Fishing in 7DSO can be done in bodies of water such as the sea or lakes. However, not every shoreline is a valid location; the key is whether there are fish nearby.
You can identify a fishing spot by approaching the water's edge and seeing if the "Fish" interaction prompt appears.

You can check which types of fish are available at a location via the Fishing Spot Info button. This feature allows you to see the preferred bait for each fish and the specific effects that different baits provide.
Additionally, it also displays the status effects inflicted when certain fish are used as a recovery item as food, so it's highly advisable to check the info especially when you visit a fishing spot for the first time.

Once you've started the Fishing interaction, the next step is to choose your bait. Since different baits attract different fish, select one that suits your specific target. While it is possible to fish without bait, high-rarity fish will ignore your hook if it is unbaited.
We recommend fishing without bait first to practice the mechanics before using your resources.

Once you've chosen your bait, cast your line to start fishing. Generally, it's recommended to cast near where you see fish. However, even if there aren't any fish nearby, they will appear later as long as you can cast within range, so it's also fine to cast wherever you like and wait patiently.
You can identify if an area is rich with fish when a green light appears instead of a blue light after confirming the "Fish" interaction button. You can move the target spot of your cast with the Move button to find a location where the green light is visible.
As soon as the fish bites, you must hit the Set the Hook button quickly to start pulling. Otherwise, the fish will get away and you will lose your bait.
Once the hook is set, a yellow gauge and a bar will appear on the screen. To catch the hooked fish, keep the bar within the yellow gauge for a set amount of time The timer is displayed below the gauge.
The bar will automatically move down if you do not press anything and will move up if you press the Pull button. Adjust your inputs carefully to maintain the bar's position within the yellow gauge.

When the capture gauge is full—indicated by the circular icon that fills around the fish icon within the bar—you have successfully caught the fish! Caught fish are stored in your Bag and can be consumed or used as cooking ingredients at any time.

Fishing in The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin is unlocked once you have progressed through Act 1-2, upon Tioreh becoming a permanent member of your team. Afterward, you can freely roam to any body of water to fish.

Fishing baits can be crafted at a Workbench by combining mainly meat with other materials. The higher the level of your workbench, the higher the quality of the bait you can craft, so be sure to check regularly whether you can upgrade your workbench.

Fishing allows you to obtain a wide variety of fish. Fish can be used in cooking and serve as ingredients for crafting powerful healing items that not only restore HP but also grant buff effects to the characters in your party.
While some types of fish can restore HP without being cooked, there is a 10% chance of getting Food Poisoning (which deals 2% of your maximum HP in damage every 3 seconds). Therefore, unless it’s an emergency, you should try to cook them whenever possible.
Cooking Guide: How to Cook Dishes

By catching a variety of high-rarity fishes, you will be able to complete the Legendary Angler Achievement and earn Star Fragments as a reward. Additionally, cooking fishes contributes to completing Cooking Achievements, so it is highly recommended to work on both simultaneously to maximize your rewards.
