This team comp mixes the Darkness and Fire attributes, with Meliodas (Dual Swords) as the DPS. To maximize this comp in combat, start by having Tristan (Dual Swords) and Tioreh (Grimoire) activate their Fire Burst buffs, then have Bug (Grimoire) and Meliodas use their Darkness Bursts.

This will strengthen Meliodas’ attacks and keep them consistent thanks to the support buffs’ burst efficiency.

Grimoire Is Recommended for Dark Teams

The recommended style for Bug is Grimoire, which can act as a support for teams dedicated to Darkness. With Meliodas, it is highly advisable to develop him as a support who can amplify and enhance his attacks even more.

However, if you do not intend to get Meliodas, it's better to focus on having Bug use an Axe or Dual Swords, as he is more effective as a Darkness DPS in this case.

Bug as a Grimoire User

Lowers Darkness Resistance With Special Attack

Bug (Grimoire) fits more as a support that specializes in enhancing your teammates' dark damage. By landing four normal attacks, which are enhanced when using special attacks, you can apply a debuff that reduces Darkness resistance.

Since the effect duration is long, you don’t need to reapply it very often, which is a major advantage in your rotations.

Ultimate Move Deals Periodic Damage

Hitting an enemy with his Ultimate Move applies Curse, which deals periodic damage and reduces enemies' Darkness resistance. Additionally, applying Curse triggers a passive effect that further boosts Dark attribute damage against the target for the duration of the effect, significantly increasing your damage output.

Furthermore, every time the special move hits, it extends the duration of the Dark Burst by 1 second, making it highly effective at sustaining damage against enemies.

Bug as an Axe User

Guaranteed Critical Hit With Special Attack

Bug (Axe) is a Darkness DPS that boosts critical damage against enemies during his Dark Element Burst state. Maximize this powerup by using the Special Attack Abyss Smasher, which is a guaranteed critical hit if executed at the right moment, as indicated by the weapon's shine.

While the style is restrictive in nature, particularly against bosses that deal massive damage, the advantage of the Axe on Bug lies in its tremendous striking power.

More Damage in Ultimate Move

Using his Ultimate Move, Death Swarm, Bug is able to boost his own Darkness damage.

Along with enhancing the destructive capability of his standard skills, you can also amplify the strikes using the aforementioned special attacks, so make sure to execute the firepower combo from Ultimate Move to Special Attacks to maximize his damage.

Bug as a Dual Sword User

Teleport Behind Enemies Using Special Attack

Bug (Dual Sword) is a Dark DPS whose damage output increases when attacking from behind. Since using his special attack allows him to instantly teleport behind an enemy, it’s easier than it sounds to maintain the passive buff.

Furthermore, by combining this with the cooldown reset from his normal attacks, he can teleport behind an enemy twice in a short period. Since his special attack allows him to stack a Darkness damage buff for up to three times, he can instantly increase his damage output by 20%.

Finish Enemies With a Special Move Before the Dark Burst Wears Off

Bug's Ultimate move, The End, deals additional damage to enemies in his Dark Burst state. While this significantly boosts your damage output, the Dark Burst effect is canceled when the final blow lands, so be sure to check the duration of the Burst and use this move just before it expires.
