Best Weapon

The Abyssal Whip is currently the best overall weapon in RuneScape Dragonwilds' early access. Learn what are the best melee, magic, and ranged weapons in the game here.

Best Melee Weapon in RuneScape Dragonwilds

The Abyssal Whip is the Best Melee Weapon

Overview
Abyssal Whip
Damage 49 - 86
Attack Combo 5
Block 5
Level 4
Facility Smithing Anvil
Special Action Abyssal Snare

The Abyssal Whip is a Masterwork Weapon and currently the best weapon in the game. While the Granite Maul and Thane's Authority have higher overall damage, the Abyssal Whip is a one-handed weapon that allows you to equip a strong shield such as the Anti-Dragon Shield to increase your survivability.

The Abyssal Whip also attacks faster and has a longer attack combo, making it a more versatile melee weapon especially when fighting enemies in more enclosed areas such as Vaults.

How to Get Abyssal Whip

Abyssal Snare is a Ranged Attack

Another advantage that the Abyssal Whip has over the Granite Maul is its special attack, Abyssal Snare, which is a long-ranged attack that travels on the ground. The impact of this attack can knock down multiple enemies hit by the explosion, making it a great way to deal with multiple enemies from a safe range.

The Staff of Light is the Best Magic Weapon

Staff of Light Overview
Staff of Light
Tier Level 4
Weapon Type Magic
Weapon Subtype Battlestaff
Damage Multiplier 4.5 Rune Damage

The Staff of Light is currently the strongest Magic Weapon in the game thanks to its 4.5 rune damage multiplier which is currently the highest of all staves in the game, allowing you to hit hard with its regular and AOE attacks.

The Crystal Bow is the Best Ranged Weapon

Crystal Bow Overview
Crystal Bow
Tier Level 3
Weapon Type Ranged
Weapon Subtype Shortbow
Damage 0
Damage Multiplier 3.45 Arrow Damage
Special Action Does not require arrows

Although the Crystal Bow has a lower damage multiplier compared to the Blightwood Shortbow, this Masterwork Weapon has a special attack called Scattershot which shoots a barrage of crystals in a large AOE cone in front of you.

Scattershot doesn't use arrows and is essentially the bow's melee attack, allowing you to deal with enemies that get close to you.

Hunter's Stagbow is Best for Sniping

Hunter's Stagbow Overview
Hunter's Stagbow
Tier Level 4
Weapon Type Ranged
Weapon Subtype Longbow
Damage 43
Damage Multiplier 4.3 Arrow Damage
Special Action None
Special Effect 10% Draw Time

The Hunter's Stagbow is the strongest bow in the game in terms of sheer damage. It also has a faster draw time compared to other longbows, though it still takes longer to draw compared to shortbows.

This bow is best used for sniping enemies in range and can often one-shot or two-shot Vault Guardians when aiming for their heads. Though it's a less versatile weapon than the Crystal Bow, it's still a great ranged weapon for those looking to snipe enemies from range.

How to Get Hunter's Stagbow

Are the Staff of Light and Crystal Bow Worth Getting?

Not Worth Getting Due to Lack of Skill Perks

Staff of Light
RuneScape Dragonwilds' early access currently lacks a way to level the Magic and Ranged skills which means there are currently no combat perks associated with these skill lines.

While both weapons are great at providing ranged damage options for your character, these are best used as backup weapons as they currently lack skills that bring their power on the same level as the Abyssal Whip.

These weapons also require Vault Shards and Vault Cores which are relatively rare resources and are best used in crafting melee weapons and armor first.
