This progression guide explains the best order to build, craft, and farm while proceeding through the Main Quests in RuneScape Dragonwilds. Learn how to get stronger effectively to complete the story and defeat General Velgar in this guide!

Prologue: Temple Woods

Main Objectives

Main Objectives
1 Speak to the Wise Old Man in the temple. The tutorial is optional, but we recommend learning the basics of the game through this section.
1.1 Find Doric outside the temple and complete the Getting Started main quest.
1.2 Talk to Vannaka and complete the Ratcatcher main quest.
1.3 Talk to Zanik and complete the Rune Mysteries main quest.

Chapter 1: Bramblemead Valley

Main Objectives

Main Objectives
1 After completing the tutorial, meet the Wise Old Man again in Bramblemead Valley and complete The First Steps main quest.
2 Build a base with at least a bed roll covered with a roof.
3 Build a Spinning Wheel and craft some Coarse Threads.
4 Craft an Ash Shortbow and some arrows to help you hunt deer.
5 Craft a Wooden Shield and a Bone Dagger.
6 Progress the Dragon Slayer main quest by reading the lore book at the goblin castle.
7 Hunt more deer and cows to gather Animal Hide and Animal Bone.
8 Build a Tannery to process Animal Hide into Leather.
9 Craft the Reinforced Armor Set, a Leather Shield, and a Bone Club.
10 Raid the South Temple Woods Vault south of Bramblemead Village to obtain at least one Vault Core. Blunt weapons like the Bone Club work well against the vault guardians.
11 Build a Lodestone near your base before advancing the main story.

Chapter 2: Whispering Swamp

Main Objectives
1 Continue progressing the Dragon Slayer main quest by going to the Whispering Swamp Vault and finding Spitfoot inside. Build another Lodestone outside the vault afterwards so you can fast travel to your base.
Note: Make sure to interact with the Dragonkin Effigy in the boss room to obtain the recipe for the Anti-Dragon Shield.
2 Repair your gear and take another Vault Core (for a new Lodestone) so you can create a Lodestone in Fractured Plains.
3 Gather some clay from the swamp so you can build a Kiln for your base which will let you create Adhesive, Charcoal, Clay Vessels, and Wild Anima for later gear and armor upgrades.
4 Use the remaining materials to build a Furnace so you can upgrade your gear later.
5 Collect as much Harralander, Bittercap Mushrooms, and Swamp Tar before setting off for the Fractured Plains. These are used to craft Weak Antipoison Potions which will come in handy later on.

Chapter 3: Fractured Plains

Main Objectives
1 Scout Fractured Plains for Copper Ore and Tin Deposits and build a Lodestone nearby.
2 Smelt Bronze Bars in your furnace to craft a Smithing Anvil for your base.
3 Farm Anima Infused Bark from Anima Trees near the central area of Fractured Plains.
4 Complete the Heart Strings side quest and craft a Crystal Bow. You can farm Opal from tin and copper deposits and Soft Animal Fur or Fleece from enemies in Fractured Plains.
5 Head to Velgar's Rise, the large tower near the center of Fractured Plains and speak to Cathan's ghost who will give you the recipe to craft the Challenge Horn.
6 Expand your base by creating a Tanner's Kit so that you can create Hard Leather, as well as a Sawmill to crease Ash Planks and Oak Planks.
7 Craft and upgrade your tools to Bronze Logging Axe and Bronze Pickaxe for faster woodcutting and mining.
8 Raid the Fractured Plains Vault for Vault Shards and Vault Cores for later gear upgrades.

Chapter 4: Bloodblight Swamp

Main Objectives
1 Create Weak Antipoison Potions using Harralander, Bittercap Mushroom, and Clay Vessel so you can safely explore Bloodblight Swamp.
2 Create a Lodestone in Bloodblight Swamp so you can quickly teleport to the area. Gather at least 12 Blightwood from the trees here so you can craft the Anti-Dragon Shield.
3 Defeat the Abyssal Demon to get an Abyssal Spine. There are nearby ruins that you can camp on top where the Abyssal Demon can't reach you.
4 Gather Snapdragon so you can craft stronger Healing Potions.
5 Head southeast to the Garou camp and clear the enemies. Look for a large tree in this area and harvest a Bloodwood Sap.
6 Raid the Bloodblight Swamp Vault for Vault Shards and Vault Cores for later gear upgrades.

Chapter 5: Stormtouched Highlands

Main Objectives
1 Make your way to the Stormtouched Highlands and create a Lodestone close to the Iron Ore deposits.
2 Mine Iron Ore and smelt Iron Bars to create the Loom Harness upgrade for your camp.
3 Gather the following materials to create the full Iron Armor Set: 20 Iron Bars, 6 Padded Cloth, 14 Hard Leather, and 6 Vault Shards.
4 Gather the following materials to create the Abyssal Whip: 12 Vault Shards, 1 Vault Core, 8 Hard Leather, 1 Abyssal Spine, 4 Ram Horns. You can find Rams roaming around Stormtouched Highlands.
5 Upgrade to Iron Pickaxe and Iron Logging Axe to make mining and woodcutting faster.
6 Mine Granite so you can create Attack Potions. Brew at least 10 Attack Potions.
7 Head tot he southwestern part of the highlands and mine the dragon skull to get a Dragon Tooth.

Finale: General Velgar

Main Objectives
1 Prepare for the final battle. Stock up on food, clean water, as well as Healing Potions and Antipoison Potions.
2 Craft the Challenge Horn on the Smithing Anvil using 5 Bronze Bars, a Dragon Tooth and a Bloodwood Sap.
3 Make your way to General Velgar's Twer at the central area of Fractured Plains and place the Challenge Horn at the center to start the boss fight. Make sure to use a Antipoison Potions before the fight to avoid getting killed by its poison damage.
4 Defeat General Velgar. Dodge when it uses its homing earth attack and use your Crystal Bow to attack it from range. Alternatively, you can get up close and use your Abyssal Whip.
Note: If you used an Antipoison Potion beforehand, General Velgar's poison attacks will do no damage to you.
5 Once defeated, loot General Velgar's corpse and return to the Wise Old Man to complete the quest.
