Kalos Region Setting in Legends: Z-A
Set 5 Years After the Events of Pokemon X and Y
Pokemon Legends: Z-A is set within Lumiose City in the Kalos region 5 years after the events of Pokemon X and Y. An urban redevelopment plan for the city is underway to shape the city into a place where both people and Pokemon can coexist.
Following the events of Pokemon X and Y, the redevelopment plan may be due to the aftermath of Lysandre firing the ultimate weapon, and its long-term effects within the Kalos Region.
Lumiose City Is the Main Location of Pokemon Z-A
Kalos Characters Return in Z-A
To further confirm the game's timeline, several characters from X-Y return in Legends: Z-A appearing more mature than in their initial appearances. Emma, for example, looks noticeably older and now works as a full-time detective!
Other confirmed returning characters include AZ and his Eternal Flower Floette, as well as Mable, who previously worked for Team Flare and now returns as a researcher.
The Game Will Be Considered Generation 9
Considering Pokemon Legends: Z-A will be released after Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, the game will be considered as part of Generation 9. The same was done for Pokemon Legends: Arceus as it is considered to be part of Generation 8.
