Taking advantage of Lyney's Pyro capabilities, this is the best build for him as a Pyro DPS. CRIT Rate should be a Low Priority stat as Lyney has a lot of CRIT Rate from ascension and the Marechaussee Hunter set.

While Lyney's healing scales on his HP, it's not a necessary stat to get as he can get healing from other party members.

This alternative build allows Lyney to deal more DMG after consuming his own HP. You will have to use his Elemental Burst first before attacking to make the most out of the ATK buff from the Vermillion Hereafter set.

Lyney Talent Priority

Lyney's Normal and Charged Attacks should be your first priority as his Grin-Malkin Hat is his most prevalent source of DMG, deploying it through his Charged Attack and Burst, and detonating it instantly with his Skill.

Regardless of which talent is used, the Grin-Malkin Hat's DMG is always considered Normal Attack DMG, while its Pyrotechnic Strike is considered Charged Attack DMG.

One of Lyney's passive Talents is a dramatic DMG boost based on the number of Pyro characters present in the party.

This build not only provides even more DMG as well as healing through Bennett's Elemental Burst, but also additional support from Kazuha and resistance to interruption from Dehya to keep Charged Attacks from being disrupted.

Should You Pull for Lyney?

Will Lyney be worth to pull?

It has been a while since a new and reliable Pyro DPS has been released in the game, and pulling for Lyney might be a breath of fresh air for many players in search of one.

His DMG scaling is quite decent and his mechanics are pretty easy to understand, and he will be able to dish out a summative amount of DMG once you get the hang of him.

Shines in Mono-Pyro Teams

So long as you don't mind sacrificing some HP and the lack of elemental reactions for maximum DMG boost, then Lyney is worth the pull. You may also want to practice your steady hand when using Lyney as he relies heavily on Charged Attacks.

Lyney Talents and How to Use

Normal Attack

Pneuma-Aligned Charged Attacks

Lyney's entire kit revolves around his Pneuma-aligned Charged Attacks. When using his Charged Attack, different effects will occur depending on the time Lyney spent charging his arrow.

If held for longer, he will fire off a Prop Arrow that will deal Pyro on hit. The Prop Arrow will also summon a Grin-Malkin Hat. Doing so consumes a portion of Lyney's HP and grants 1 Prop Surplus stack.

Grin-Malkin Hat

The Grin-Malkin Hat is Lyney's iconic cat-in-the-hat companion who can taunt enemies, and deal Pyro damage when it exists the field. Once it's destroyed or its duration expires, it will unleash a Pyrotechnic Strike, dealing AoE Pyro DMG.

The Grin-Malkin Hat can exist even when Lyney is not on the field. Therefore, it can be used for off-field Pyro support should you have other tactics in mind!

Elemental Skill

Detonate with Elemental Skill

Lyney consumes all Prop Surplus stacks to deal massive Pyro DMG in an AoE. If a Grin-Malkin Hat exists on the field, it will explode along with the Skill, dealing DMG equal to a Pyrotechnic Strike!

Each Prop Surplus Stack, apart from increasing the DMG dealt by this Skill, will also heal Lyney. This will restore the HP sacrificed during Charged Attacks!

Elemental Burst

Grin Malkin Explosion

Lyney turns himself into a Grim-Malkin Cat for a certain duration that can freely roam around the field, while dealing Pyro DMG along its path. Once duration ends, the cat explodes to deal AoE Pyro DMG, summons a Grin-Malkin Hat.

You can have the Grim-Malkin Cat explode right away by pressing on Lyney's Skill.

Passive Talent 1

Quick Energy Recharge

With this Passive, Lyney does not have to build much energy recharge due to this skill and also due to him usually being run in a Mono-Pyro team.

Passive Talent 2

Incentivizes Mono-Pyro

DMG dealt by Lyney on enemies affected by Pyro will be increased. This effect can be increased by having other Pyro characters in the party aside from Lyney.

You can get the maximum increased DMG bonus by having Lyney and two other Pyro characters in the party!

Arlecchino	Clervie once asked me what a real home looks like, but I had no answer for her. How could any of us know the answer when the House of the Hearth is made up entirely of people who never had a place to call home. By killing Crucabena, I was able to assume the identity of Father and rebuild the House under a new set of rules. Still, I'm well aware that, even with these efforts, the House is far from that ideal. As for what a real home truly looks like, I suppose that question is best put to the side for now... Perhaps one day, Lyney will be able to give me a new answer.
Charlotte	Surprise, surprise - Lyney refused an interview with me once again. Do you know how many times that is now? ...Uh, actually, I've lost count. But never mind! Evading me only further confirms my suspicion that he's hiding the news story of a lifetime! As long as I keep digging, I'll find it - and when I do, it will shake the world like no other new report in history!
Chevreuse	Lyney is quite the famous magician. We once had a case where we arrested a magician suspected of deliberate harm, fraudulent behavior, and murder, but we could never figure out his methods. In the end, we brought on Lyney as a consultant. He helped us find a crucial piece of evidence that led to the successful conviction of the suspect. I heard that an author actually used that case as the basis for their mystery novel about a magician who used their craft to commit crimes. Unfortunately... the author ended up going a little overboard on the graphic detail, and since the crime is still fresh in everyone's minds, it'll be a while before they're able to get it published.
Chiori	I can't make a hat that could hide secrets, but it seems Lyney can enchant his hat to do just that... I'm a little curious about how it feels to wear a hat full of so many tricks and secrets like his. As for me, I don't need the burden of all that, it's easiest to just say what's on my mind.
Clorinde	I have to applaud the great magician for the level of professionalism he displays in his craft. If I ever have the time, I would very much like to enjoy one of his shows as a regular audience member.
Freminet	Magic Shows: At home, Lyney's always showing me his magic tricks. Whenever I smile, he grins excitedly and says the audience is definitely going to love this one... Do I really smile so rarely? Mask: Lyney is our team leader, and acts like everyone's older brother... But I can tell that he puts on a brave face sometimes. I tried to talk to him about it once - told him that he doesn't need to wear a mask all the time. But he denied it, and we ended up having an argument... Since then, I've never brought it up with him again.
Furina	Of course I know Lyney and Lynette. I used to frequently attend their magic shows. Though they're very popular, they're still much less popular than me. Only my performances would draw a completely sold-out crowd... even standing tickets would be out. But now... Uh... I've already decided to hang up my acting career, so it's perfectly normal for my popularity to decline!
Kirara	So I met this magician in Fontaine who could make anything disappear, then make it reappear out of thin air! He must've used some kind of youkai power to make that happen, right? Hmm... Is he a youkai too, then?
Lynette	Unspoken Understanding: I have always been together with Lyney, and we can tell what the other is thinking without speaking. Thus, he tends to be more quiet than normal when we are alone. Navia	I know magicians can often be all bravado and razzmatazz, but I can tell that Lyney is a sincere guy who cares deeply about his friends and family. He's so mature for his age, it catches me off guard sometimes... Oh, and how could I forget - it was so kind of him to try and cheer up the children in Poisson with an impromptu free magic show during the flood! I'll have to invite him and Lynette over some macarons at my place when I get the chance. Iknow Lynette's always conjuring teacupsout of thin air, so surely at least she's a fan of a proper tea break?
Neuvillette	Their performances are just fascinating, don't you think? They draw you into a magical world where, on one hand, everything that takes place is part of an elaborate deception - but on the other, all manner of miracles are possible if you are only willing to believe.
Wriothesley	I'll admit that when I removed the House of the Hearth's spies in the underworld, that was kind of an intentional provocation to the Fatui. But their only response was to send down a bunch of children... Was it because they truly saw those kids as disposable? Or because they knew I wouldn't have it in me to let them come to serious harm?

The people of Fontaine have a particular soft spot for excitement and drama, which is why many hold her in high esteem.
Lynette	About Lynette Modes: You think my sister doesn't talk much? Oh, she's probably just not in the right mode. Next time, start by saying "Activate Chat Mode" to her. If you're lucky, she might have a great deal of things to say to you. Hmm, and if you're not lucky...? Well, she'll just stare for a while, but hey, at least you'll get to see a different side of her! Twins: My sister and I have always been inseparable. There's no hardship we can't overcome as long as we're together, and similarly, we share all our joys with each other.
