Best Weapons Tier List (January 2026)

Criteria Explanation
Effectivity Runes should provide useful effects.
Modifiers The overall damage your weapon can do will determine how fast you can defeat overworld enemies and bosses.
Ease of Use A weapon’s practicality and ease of application in overworld gameplay will be taken into account.

SS Runes

Rune Explanation
Drain Edge Drain Edge is an essential rune throughout the mid-endgame due to its valuable lifesteal. For most builds, you will most likely want to have a Drain Edge to quickly heal back enemy damage.
Frost Speck /
Chill Dust		 These two runes offer very similar effects and can synergize well when used together. Additionally, these are the only runes in the game so far that can have Tier 2 variants. Tier 2 runes can have a third modifier, making it easier to get vital stats such as Critical Hit Rate, Critical Hit Damage, and Attack Speed.

S Runes

Rune Explanation
Blast Chip This rune is available fairly early on in Island 2, and is a great generic rune for an easy DPS boost. When paired with high Attack Speed, you can expect this run to continuously activate!
Rage Mark Rage Mark will most likely be your default Armor Rune in the mid - endgame. Though they may not activate as often when you have good armor, this gives a massive boost in Physical Damage, allowing you to burst down enemies when you have low HP.
Miner Shard Miner Shards are the only runes available to insert into your Pickaxe. However, it is not recommended to use them at all unless you already have the Prismatic or Dragon Head Pickaxe. This is because slotting Miner Shards in and out can be expensive, and you will most likely move onto better pickaxes as you progress through the game.

A Runes

Rune Explanation
Ward Patch This rune is obtained only at the start of the game, and will not be dropped anywhere else. It can provide decent survivability in the early game, but its value quickly falls off in Islands 2 and 3.

B Runes

Rune Explanation
Briar Notch Briar Notch has a very niche use, and is relevant only to very tanky builds. You will most likely be better off using Rage Mark for an increased damage boost when you have low HP.

C Runes

Rune Explanation
Flame Spark / Venom Crumb Flame Spark and Venom Crumb both provide a chance to deal damage over time to enemies you hit. However, applying Damage Over Time to enemies is generally not very effective. Since the DoT application is not guaranteed, you are better off slotting in a Blast Chip to immediately defeat enemies instead of having to prolong fights.
