Side Quest Information

Objectives

Chocobo Forest is a Mini-game in FF8 where you need to make a single chicobo remain on the field. This can be done by detecting them with the Chocosonar and making them appear with the ChocoZiner. When one Chicobo remains in the area, you must talk to the chicobo to make the mother chocobo appear.

Hidden Objective

A hidden goal is finding a hidden item within the forest after making the mother Chocobo appear. This can be done by using the sonar in the forest, and then using the Ziner in the area the sonar reacts. This will make the chocobo dig in the selected area and give the player an item.

Chocobo Forest Trabia Winter Island

Whistle on this area to make a single Chicobo fall. Interact with it to make the mother Chocobo appear

Head to the area in the image above and use the ChocoZiner to make the Chocobo dig for an Aura Stone.

Chocobo Forest Sorbald Snowfield

Use the ChocoZiner in Squall's position from the image above to reveal 2 Chicobos.

Go to Squall's position in the area shown in the image above to reveal a Chicobo.

Use the Zinar again on the previous spot that you did to make the 2 other Chicobos go away.

Talk to the lone Chicobo to summon the mother and use the ChocoZiner in Squall's position in the image above to get the forest's item.

Chocobo Forest Bika snowfield

You have to use the ChocoZinar on the Chicobos that appeared when you entered to make them go away.

Using the ChocoZinar in the area near the entrance will make a single Chicobo appear.

Interact with the Chicobo to make the Mother Chocobo appear in the center of the forest. Use the Zinar in Squall's position to get the item in this forest.

Chocobo Forest Nectar peninsula

This Forest only has one Chicobo but the position is so small that you need to be in the perfect spot to catch it.

Once you caught the Chicobo, challenge the kid to a Triple Triad game. You don't have to play, just use the command to tell the kid to move in a different spot. Use the ChocoZiner in the spot the kid is standing.

Chocobo Forest Lenown Plains

You need to have 4 Chicobos in the center of the forest. Two Chicobos will appear when the ChocoZiner is used in Squall's position in the image above.

And another two in the image above.

Go to this spot and use the ChocoZiner to reveal the last Chicobo. Use the Ziner in this same position to make this Chicobo chase away the 4 other Chicobos.

When the mother Chocobo is summoned. Use the ChocoZiner in Squall's position in the image above for the item in this forest.

Chocobo Forest Talle Mountains

The key in this forest is to start in the outer areas. Use the ChocoZiner in the area near the exit.

Use the ChocoZiner in the area where Squall is standing in the image above.

Then to the the area shown in the image above.

Once all 3 Chicobos are revealed, go to Squall's area in the image above to reveal the 4th Chicobo.

Go to the center of the forest to make the 3 other Chicobo go home. Talk to the lone Chicobo to summon the mother.

Use the ChocoZiner in the area Squall is standing at in the image above to obtain the forest's item.

Chocobo Forest Grandidi

After getting all the items in the Chocobo Forests, head to Grandidi Forest using a Chocobo, then head to the Chocobo Forest inside Grandidi.
