How to Unlock Supernova

Get the Crystal Star in Chapter 7

Unlock Mario's final special move, Supernova, by obtaining the Crystal Star from X-Naut Fortress in Chapter 7. This will also max out Mario's SP gauge, giving him the full 8 SP gauge.

Supernova Action Command Timing

Mash A to Fill Each Meter

The Action Command for Supernova requires the player to mash the A button to fill each meter. Subsequent meters require faster button mashing in order to fill. A total of five meters can be filled to maximize Supernova's damage output.
