What Happens When You Die in Astro Bot?

Respawn at Last Checkpoint

Upon dying in Astro Bot, you'll return to the last checkpoint you've activated. Any progress you've made beyond that point will not be kept. However, all Bots and Puzzle Pieces you've collected will remain with you.

Coins After Checkpoint are Not Kept

Any coins you obtain after activating a checkpoint will not be kept if you die and return to that checkpoint. Passing through an already-activated checkpoint will not make your progress save again, so you may want to collect any nearby, low-risk coins before you activate a checkpoint.

How to Activate Checkpoints

Pass by Checkpoints to Activate Them

Walking past a checkpoint or stepping within a checkpoint's area will automatically activate it. There are also some checkpoints that may be activated through certain actions like rescuing a Bot, beating a strong enemy, or obtaining an ability.

Checkpoints Turn Blue When Activated

Checkpoints are normally red when they haven't been activated yet. You'll know that a checkpoint has been triggered when it turns blue.
