This is a Side Quest Walkthrough for the Friendly Monsters side quest from Final Fantasy IX (FFIX, FF9). Read on for more information about this side-quest and its rewards.
List of Contents
The Friendly Monsters are 9 enemies found throughout the game world who will, instead of attacking the player, ask for Ores or other Jewels, providing items and AP for fulfilling their request. Other than the items and AP, completing this side quest will aid you in taking on the superboss of the game, Ozma, bringing it within reach for melee attackers and weakening it to Shadow attacks.

Upon Completion | Allows melee characters to attack Ozma. Ozma also becomes weak to Shadow type attacks. |
Mu | Potion and 10 AP. |
Ghost | Hi-Potion and 10 AP. |
Ladybug | Ether and 20 AP. |
Yeti | Elixir and 20 AP. |
Nymph | Emerald and 30 AP. |
Jabberwock | Moonstone and 40 AP. |
Feather Circle | Lapis Lazuli and 30 AP. |
Garuda | Diamond and 40 AP. |
Yan | Rosetta Ring and 50 AP. |
Found in the plains near the Village of Dali. The Mu will ask for a single Ore.
Found near Treno. Appease this Friendly Monster by offering it an Ore.
Found in the forest near the Black Mage Village. The Ladybug wants 2 Ore in exchange for its prizes.
Found in the forest near Madain Sari. The Yeti also requires 2 Ore.
Found in the grassy area near the Iifa Tree. The greedy Nymph aims to exhaust your stock of Ore, requesting 3.
Found in the forest east of Oeilvert. Requires a Blue Chocobo or better to gain access. Alternatively accessible once you have the Invincible on Disc 4. No more Ore? No problem! The Jabberwock is more interested in the higher quality Emerald.
Located near Esto Gaza. Following the Jabberwock's trend, the Feather Circle would like a single Moonstone, please.
In the forest in Popo's Heights. Can use the Hilda Garde or enter Gizamaluke's Grotto and climb the vine near the Moogle couple. This little birdy needs a Lapis Lazuli.
Found in the Vile Island South West of the Iifa Tree, The Friendly Yan will immediately flee if the other Friendly Monsters' requests have yet to be completed. Keep this Yan's attention with a shiny Diamond.
Once you've completed the Friendly Yan's request you will have succesfully finished the Friendly Monsters sidequest!
