One Soldier Too Many is a side quest that starts in Hyrule Castle Town in The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom (EoW). See how to start the One Soldier Too Many, walkthrough for the side quest, who the suspicious soldier is, as well as what rewards you can get!
One Soldier Too Many quest can be started by talking to the soldier by the southern gate in Hyrule Castle Town. This can only be done after completing the main quest Still Missing.
Although you can unlock One Soldier Too Many at any point after completing Still Missing, you can only complete this side quest if General Wright is in Hyrule Castle.
In the beginning of the Prime Energy and Null main quest, General Wright will leave the castle and head to the Eternal Forest. You must first aid him in the forest until you open up a secret path. General Wright should return to the castle afterwards.
The Prime Energy and Null Walkthrough
The suspicious soldier is located beside the well outside the barracks. He's the one wielding a lance with a missing tip.
After finding the suspicious soldier, head back to the barracks and talk to Beecher and answer the following questions with the correct dialogue options.

Where did you see the suspicious soldier? | Near the well. |
And which piece of equipment was damaged? | The lance. |
How to Complete | |
---|---|
1 | After talking to the soldier by the southern gate, talk to any of the soldiers around the castle to look for clues. |
2 | To progress the quest, head to the western rampart near the barracks and talk to the soldier on the wall next to the well. He will tell you to ask the barracks about any missing equipment. |
3 | Head to the barracks and ask the soldier there about missing equipment. Beecher will then barge in thinking of the same thing. He will ask for your thoughts which you can give to him by talking to him. |
4 | Look around the castle for any soldier with damaged equipment. The answer is the soldier by the well just outside the barracks, you'll see upon close inspection that his lance is damaged and is missing the tip. |
5 | Talk to Beecher in the barracks and tell him of your findings. Select the following dialogue options to progress the quest: ・"I sure did." ・ "Near the well." ・"The lance." |
* | If you've just completed Lands of the Goddesses and started the Prime Energy and Null main quest, General Wright may not be around to give your reward. You must first go to the Eternal Forest and progress the main quest until General Wright returns to Hyrule Castle in order to complete One Soldier Too Many. |
6 | Once you've successfully identified the culprit, a cutscene will play with the "echo" being outed, but he just turns out to be a normal person pretending to be a soldier. General Wright will reward you with a Golden Egg for your troubles. |
Golden Egg |
