In the Ability Items screen, you can simply click on the Ability Items you wish to equip. You can see if an Ability Item is equipped if it is listed on the right side of the screen.
Once you've selected the right Ability Items, you can click on the Confirm option at the bottom of the screen to lock in your Ability Items.
