Sure Zhongli RES is ok but you forget about c4 Layla charged attack buff and Hu Tao can be build with some ~100 EM which ll rise reaction dmg even Layla you can build in Gilded Dreams artifacts it will further rise Hu Tao EM so dmg too . You know at the end A tier char is not so much weaker then most op char Kazuha and broken god Zhongli . But as I say only for Hu Tao.
“you don’t need a shield in these team” so Diona is not worth either bcs she just healing and shield. I don’t argue Layla must in permafreeze comps so I don’t see your points. Layla is different from Diona so she get S tier doesn’t affect Diona as they has different uses. How can Dori get S tier despite how unfitting she is while Layla can’t?
melt, yes but the Morgana you mention don’t even has Diona so argue her better than Layla in perma is pointless. Rosaria can also replace Diona for even more offensive. “Layla is dps loss bcs she deal no dmg” same with Diona. “ToTM is not needed bcs Kokomi already has it” Layla can even use Noblesses more effective with her 12s CD and 40 cost. 80% from Sac Bow is not always 100%. I doubt Diona shield can endure crowd Aoe from lawachurl. Ruins, eremites, fatuis
Me, who use Thoma instead Layla/Zhongli for Hu Tao..
I'm not sure if anyone else is running Hu Tao's Meld version, simply because it doesn't make sense right now. In fact, if you do not take her classic config Hu Tao + Xingqiu + Albedo + Zhongli, and we are talking about the modern meta, now everyone mainly plays through Hu Tao + Xingqiu + Yelan + Kazuha (if you have balls, if not, replace Kazuha with Zhongli) . Both of these configs with closed eyes will overtake any meld config.
Resistance Shred has diminishing returned, meaning that below 0% RES, the damage increase won't be as high. Melt is a 2x multiplier, compared to 1.5x for Reverse Vaporize. So if you do 100k normal, then with vape you will do 150k and with Melt you will do 200k Damage imo that is worth alot more compared to 20% RES Shred from Zhong Li. Even if the RES Shred would literally mean a 20% damage increase (which it is not) 150k from Vaporize x 120% is 180k... 20k less compared to a Melt reaction
For Hu tao you need Zhongli not only for Shield - Characters protected by the Jade Shield will decrease the Elemental RES and Physical RES of opponents in a small AoE by 20%. He also bust her DMG by lowering enemy RES. Layla can't do this.
Guys best and only her place is near Hu Tao, Hu Tao needed badly such char. c6 she can be even better support for Hu Tao then Zhongli. For other teams there is no place for her sadly ;)
Sorry, but you wrote some kind of nonsense, the very idea of permafrost teams is that all enemies are frozen for the entire battle. You basically don't need a shield in these teams if you play right. All you need in perma frost teams is as much damage as possible to kill enemies as quickly as possible while they are frozen.
ice is not only permafrost also meld, EM is not Dead Stat. If we talking about perma frost team like Ayaka+Kokomi+Kazuha+Shenhe or classic Ganyu Morgana team, none of them need her if you pick her in permafreez team you just losing DPS. If you bild Diona right her Shil hame more then enough HP. If you use Sacrificial Bow on her you can spam her shield. And if you bild her using Noblesse Oblige, she bufs your team DMG.
i disagree Diona's better version of her. They have different use, can Diona shield-bot like her? no. can Diona access 4 pc ToTM? no. can Diona boost others normal attack? no. Layla's shield already strong so healing is not needed unless rilfhound. EM is a deadstat in permafreeze. they are difference and not outclassed each others "absolutely no reason why she should be taken instead of Diona" how about a second shieldbot for a second abyss team outside Zhongli for BadDodgePlayers

As long as Dione is in the game, she will stay in A, there is absolutely no reason why she should be taken instead of Dione. Diona provides much more help and gives more buffs and advantages in battle than she does. Almost all 4 star characters that appeared at the start of the game are incredibly strong, miHoYo did not yet know how to balance the game.
She can't be S tier - Diona is exist, and she just a better and more balanced version of her. And Dionas C6 is incredibly strong - 30% Healing bonus + Elemental Mastery is increased by 200. Do you know how many characters in the whole game can give you 200% EM just by pressing one button? I'll give you a hint not much.
i think she should S tier support, being Cyro with 100% uptime good shield, able to access 4 pc ToTM and spammable Burst is pretty good. "no heal like Diona" yes but just like Zhongli who don't have heal and still good. Layla also just need tap E to shield instead of hold like Zhongli, Diona
Both are good for her, Demon of Dmg she won't be no matter what. My opinion full hp is only good if you got her c4 for better attack buff.
OK, so i need good stats for her? She good with full HP for hard shield, or normal Crit for damage?
I tell you guys Hu Tao best friend , melt with pyro is stronger then vape and c4 Layla increases charged attacks , cryo shield is best for Hu Tao cuz she don't fight against pyro opponents - best friends :)
