This is a guide for how to get unstuck in Final Fantasy IX (FFIX, FF9). This page contains information about a glitch that causes the player to sink into the world map with no way out. Read on if you have had a similar experience and our page may have the solution!

How to Get Unstuck

The player continiously tries to break out by moving in different directions.


This glitch may occur when the player loads their game after saving in an area with high elevation, sinking in to the ground with no clear method of escape.

How to Fix?

Move After Loading Your Game

Immediately move your character after loading (even if the screen is still dark). This will prevent the character from sinking in to the ground, allowing you to play normally.
