Infinity Nikki Overall Score - 90/100
Infinity Nikki deserves a spot on the cover of Vogue because this game is the epitome of style. From its breathtaking open world to Nikki’s stunning dresses and outfits, and its beautifully designed characters, it feels like a fashion show brought to life—and it absolutely delivers. While not without flaws, it stands tall as a dazzling model of creativity and a true fashion statement in gaming. The fact that it’s free-to-play makes it even more impressive.
Infinity Nikki Story - 8/10
Infinity Nikki offers a surprisingly charming and well-crafted story filled with rich lore. While it stands on its own, making it accessible to newcomers, longtime fans will enjoy subtle nods to the previous games. Nikki’s loyal companion, Momo, shines as a standout character with his witty and often playful personality.
Infinity Nikki Gameplay - 9/10
Infinity Nikki offers a unique and captivating blend of dress-up mechanics and open-world exploration. The game encourages players to embrace style, making the connection between looking good and feeling great a central theme. Its vast, explorable world is filled with activities and charm, providing plenty to keep players engaged. However, the combat feels underwhelming, taking a significant backseat and lacking challenge, even by casual gaming standards.
Infinity Nikki Visuals - 10/10
Infinity Nikki is a visual masterpiece, boasting a vibrant and meticulously crafted world filled with charming characters. However, the true highlight of the game is Nikki herself and her stunning wardrobe. Each dress is beautifully designed, complementing her character perfectly, and the sheer variety of mix-and-match options adds an extra layer of creativity. It's hard not to pause and admire the elegance and detail in every outfit.
Infinity Nikki Audio - 9/10
Infinity Nikki delivers a surprisingly delightful soundtrack paired with excellent voice performances. The music is cozy and inviting, especially during exploration in Miraland or while navigating the gacha menu. The voice acting is equally impressive, with standout performances that bring the characters to life. My personal favorite is Momo, voiced by Jessica Resheske in the English dub, who adds a charming and endearing touch to the game.
Infinity Nikki Value for Money - 9/10
It's still surprising that Infinity Nikki is completely free to play, given the sheer amount of content and activities it offers. The game feels incredibly friendly to free-to-play players, despite having a gacha system. I never felt pressured to spend real money, though the option is there for those who choose to do so.
Infinity Nikki Review
History of Nikki
As a longtime fan of the Nikki series, I was thrilled when Infinity Nikki was announced—it felt like a bold departure from its predecessors. For a bit of context, the Nikki games started back in 2012 as mobile titles that combined visual novel storytelling with dress-up mechanics.
Players take on the role of Nikki, a budding stylist in the whimsical world of Miraland, striving to make her mark in a world where fashion is a way of life. What many might not realize is just how rich in lore and emotionally engaging the series is.
That’s why Infinity Nikki caught me off guard—it presents an alternate world with its own twists on the familiar lore. It’s exciting to see the series evolve while maintaining the heart and charm that has drawn fans like me to it for over a decade.
Gameplay Overview
Infinity Nikki combines dress-up gameplay with open-world exploration, allowing players to guide Nikki and her companion Momo through diverse, culturally rich nations. As you journey through Miraland, you can collect outfits with unique effects, like the Floating Outfit, while solving puzzles along the way. There’s plenty to discover, with relaxing activities like fishing and bug-catching, and an in-depth gathering system that lets you craft new outfits. With Momo’s camera, you can also capture stunning photos of Nikki in your favorite looks, experimenting with mixing and matching different outfits to create the perfect ensemble.
Absolutely Stylish!
Infinity Nikki is absolutely breathtaking. I could easily spend minutes and hours just gazing at the world around me, captivated by the vibrant, mystical, and shiny lands of Miraland. The world feels cozy yet enchanting, bursting with life and beauty. However, the real star is Nikki herself and her stunning collection of dresses—this game has some of the most gorgeous outfits I’ve ever seen. Each dress is a visual masterpiece, particularly when they move, flowing gracefully with every step.
My personal favorite is the Bubbly Voyage outfit, with its shimmering blue hues that resemble a jellyfish as you glide through the game. From top to bottom, Infinity Nikki is a visual wonder, and it’s a pleasant surprise that it’s entirely free to play.
Story is Just as Compelling as Previous Games
When I first heard that Infinity Nikki would take place in an alternate world, I couldn’t help but feel a bit skeptical. I loved the story of Shining Nikki, and I was curious why they chose not to continue it. But, I understood that this game was designed to appeal to newcomers as well—and I’m happy to say the story here is just as captivating as its predecessors.
The adventure begins with Nikki and her loyal companion, Momo, rummaging through her attic in search of an outfit for a graduation party. Instead of finding what they expect, they discover a strange red dress hidden away in a wardrobe.
The moment Nikki dons the dress, she and Momo are transported to a crumbling castle, where they meet Ena, The Curator. Ena, imprisoned for over 1,000 years since the Heaven Fall, speaks in riddles about infinity,
destiny,
and her past with the original owner of Nikki’s red dress. She sends you on a quest to uncover the eight Miracle Outfits that will reveal the Truth, but at a personal cost.
After this cryptic encounter, Nikki wakes up in an abandoned Stylist Guild Building in Wishfield, where her real journey begins. She meets a girl named Dada, who helps her register with the peer-pal system before sending her off to Wishfell, a city known for granting wishes.
I won’t spoil too much, but the lore becomes more intriguing as you progress, especially once you meet key characters.
The world gradually pulls you in, and there’s a lot of environmental storytelling that hints at what could have happened in this fantastical version of Miraland. It’s a story filled with fascinating characters, and while I love many of them, my personal favorite has to be Momo. He’s a true ball of sunshine.
The Best Dress Up Game Ever
I can’t stress enough how impressive it is that Infinity Nikki is entirely free to play, and yet, I never once felt pressured to pay to win. Of course, if you want to support the game, you absolutely can, and the gacha system is pretty fair. You’re guaranteed a 5-star piece after 20 draws, which makes it feel balanced. Since Nikki is the only character, you'll be pulling dresses and outfits, and getting duplicates can help unlock alternate colors of the same outfits, which keeps it all feeling fair and rewarding.
What excites me the most, though, is the dress-up element. There’s an endless variety of dresses and accessories to mix and match, and I love how you can either buy items from the store, try your luck in the gacha hub, or unlock new outfits through the Infinity Heart. No matter where you are in the game, there’s always something fresh to discover.
I also really love the distinction between the Heart of Infinity outfits, which come with special magical abilities, and the regular wardrobe pieces. What’s even better is that you can incorporate these magical outfits into your everyday wardrobe and switch between at least four different sets whenever you like. The visuals in this game are truly top-tier, but what really stands out is how seamlessly Nikki transitions between outfits when using her abilities. It's incredibly smooth and serves as a testament to just how beautiful this game looks.
Exploration is Vast and Fun
Exploring the world in Infinity Nikki is an absolute blast, and there’s so much to do. Controlling Nikki feels smooth and elegant, especially when using her outfit abilities. One of the standout features is collecting Whimstars—gathering enough unlocks special outfits, and it’s surprisingly fun to track them down using Momo’s vision. Some Whimstars even involve mini-games, similar to the Korok challenges in Breath of the Wild. Whether it’s finding stars hidden in plain sight, completing obstacle courses, or tackling door challenges in mysterious white realms, there's always something engaging to do.
The side quests and mini-games add a fantastic layer of variety to the game. One of my personal favorites is using Nikki’s camera. The photography system is impressively detailed, offering options to upgrade, unlock filters, poses, and more. It’s easily one of the best camera modes I’ve encountered in a game, and the best part is that it saves the photos directly to your PC for easy access. It’s a simple but incredibly enjoyable feature that really enhances the experience.
I especially love using my outfits for different tasks. For example, one suit allows you to comb and pet animals, rewarding you with materials to craft new outfits. The game also takes inspiration from titles like Genshin Impact, especially with its UI, so if you're a fan of that game, you'll feel right at home here. While I really enjoyed exploring the world and discovering its hidden nooks and crannies, there are definitely a few adjustments I would’ve liked to see made.
Combat is Pretty Bland
While I understand that Infinity Nikki is meant to be a cozy game, I found the combat to be a bit too relaxed and simplistic. Fighting the Esselings feels overly easy, lacking both challenge and depth. The only combat option currently available is the Purifying Outfit, which lets you shoot infinite light blasts, but it doesn’t add much variety. I really hope they introduce more combat mechanics as the game progresses, perhaps giving Nikki more ways to fight, like with a magical wand or a sword. Even boss battles, which should feel like a significant challenge, are pretty straightforward.
Nikki Needs More Tools for Exploring
Exploring the world is undeniably enjoyable due to its vibrant beauty, but I felt the need for more tools for Nikki to enhance her exploration. For example, you can’t swim or climb, which feels like a missed opportunity. It would be great to see Nikki equipped with outfits that allow her to perform these tasks, like a swimsuit for swimming or rock-climbing gear for scaling cliffs. Much like how certain Pokémon in Legends Arceus are used for specific tasks, giving Nikki different dresses that affect her exploration would add so much more depth to the experience.
Hopefully, these features are added in future updates.
Is Infinity Nikki Worth It?
Nikki is an Icon, a Legend, She is the Moment
Infinity Nikki is free-to-play and delivers far more value, content, and most importantly, fun, than many AAA games out there. It's the kind of game you can pick up and enjoy anytime, and it’s packed with so much to offer.
This game is the epitome of style, exuding glitz, glamour, and flair. I really hope some gamer guys take a few fashion notes while playing, as fashion and gamer guys don’t always go hand in hand.
The amount of time, effort, and creativity put into this game is evident, and I truly hope it finds success. It’s a game that deserves support, and I can't recommend it enough!
