There are different status ailments your party and your enemies can inflict on one another during combat in Suikoden 1 HD Remaster. Learn all the different status ailments, their cures and how to counter status ailments in battle.

6 Different Ailments

Status Ailment Description/Effect Cure
Suikoden 1 - Poison
Poison		 Appears as a small demon above victim's head.
Damages 1/16 (about 6%) of the afflicted character's HP every turn.		 ・Antitoxin
・Turn Progression
Paralysis Appears as stars above victim's head.
Character is paralyzed and cannot act for 1 turn.		 ・Turn Progression
Suikoden 1 - Unbalance
Lose Balance		 Appears as text 'Lose Balance' above character's head.
Character is incapacitated for 1 turn.		 ・Turn Progression
Suikoden 1 - Bucket
Bucket		 Appears as bucket over character's head.
Accuracy is lowered for the afflicted character.		 ・Turn Progression
Suikoden 1 - Balloon
Balloon		 Appears as 1-3 balloons attached to character's head.
If character receives 3 balloons, they will be lifted away and removed from the battle.		 ・Needle
Silence Appears as 'Silence' text above character's head.
Magic spells are sealed and cannot be used.		 ・Turn Progression

Pointy Hat Protects Against Balloon

Hat Description Location
Pointy Hat Prevents Balloon Status ・Lenankamp Item Shop
・ Toran Lake Castle Treasure Chest
・Dwarves' Vault Treasure Chest
・Robot Soldier Drop
・Queen Ant Drop

The Pointy Hat head armor can defend against the Balloon status effect when worn.

Consider placing it on the head of a powerful character to prevent them from being forcibly removed from combat.

Have Cures Ready

Items like Antitoxins and Needles are good to carry in your item bag in case one of your characters is afflicted with either Poison or Balloon, respectively.

Getting rid of these status ailments as soon as possible during battle ensures that you will control the flow of the battle.

Increase Evasion Rate

Status ailments depend on a character's accuracy and evasion rate. Raising your character's evesion rate will allow them to successfully dodge status ailment-afflicting moves!
