As a brand new player just the looks got me at first but since then the mobility and iframes clinched it for me with the switch axe

I've played 4U, 3U, Gen and GenU. In all of those games I mained gunlance all the way. In Gen and GenU I have literally never used a different weapon, and I'm HR 674. But then I played World. And I tried the Greatsword. And oh man is it SPICY. I reached MR 800 in World, and swiftly moved on to Rise, where I continued to use the Greatsword. It is an absolute BEAST if you properly utilize TCS, and I cannot recommend it as a weapon enough. But don't forget gunlance either. Gunlance is also amazing.
What a crazy world we're living in where Lance is the worst weapon, HH is the most popular, and LBG > HBG. Honestly idk if I like this meta.

I have always mained Switch Axe since, MH3'rd. But after getting to Allmother, i tried out Hunting Horn, and oh boy its brutal. Im playing with the wife, and she is maining Long Sword. What an amazing combo with Valstrax armor and rampage weapon. Attack boost all the way. Now we completed all quests lol
I dont see that many Switch Axes m8, I would dare to say it's still one of the least used weapons only behind HH and Lance.
Funny, i rarely see the horn after 100+ mulitiplayer matches, yet somehow more "popular" than the mains ones you will see. Longsword, dual, hbg/lbg, switch. Maybe i misunderstood what popular here means
Lol Gunlance is now S tier. The description for it only mentions demo skills. Blast Charge, Guard Reload, there's so much more variation with the weapon now. Very different from previous versions. Amazing weapon!

was playin a greatsword for 15 years before they introduced chargeblade and man, its just good for every situation: targeted breaks, nippy sword combos good for elemental builds, guard pointing
