Giovanni's team is a mix of all the Aether Spirits types. However, its damage dealers are Mechanical types. With this, use a counterattack team comp with the Silvermane Lieutenant as the main DPS. Also, your Aether Spirits should be level 5 before the battle.
The strategy to beat Giovanni is to constantly have your team shielded so that the Silvermane Lieutenant will do a follow-up attack when an enemy attacks any shielded ally. Your main source of shields will be the Lieutenant's abilities and the Silvermane Soldier's Skill.

Giovanni has a Frigid Prowler as his main attacker. The Everwinter Shadewalker and the Silvermane Soldier will buff the Prowler's damage greatly, so be sure your team can shield and heal well.
In order to beat Giovanni, your team will need to survive the Prowler's attacks along with the Automaton Spider's detonation.
How to Beat Giovanni in Aetherium Wars
Constantly Shield Allies
The Silvermane Lieutenant's Talent triggers whenever an enemy Aether Spirit attacks a shielded member of your team. Since the main source of damage for the team comp is the Lieutenant's counterattacks, make sure that your Aether Spirits always have a shield!
Buff the Silvermane Lieutenant
Use the Silvermane Cannoneer's Skill to the Silvermane Lieutenant for it to also do a follow-up attack when the Lieutenant counterattacks. The Cannoneer's Ultimate should also be used for the Lieutenant so it gains some ATK buffs and Energy!
Heal Allies Using the Trotter
Since the team comp solely relies on counterattacks, you cannot really prioritize any of Giovanni's Aether Spirits. With this, make sure to actively heal your team using the Warp Trotter's abilities so that most of your units will survive until the end of the fight.
