What Kind of Character Are They? | ・Weapon skill has Spd based damage reduction and allows counterattacks at any range ・Passive skills boost own Atk/Spd and inflict an At/Def penalty on foes |
Might: 16 Range: 1 Grants Spd+3. Unit can counterattack regardless of foe's range. If unit is not adjacent to an ally and unit's Spd > foe's Spd, reduces damage from attacks during combat and from area-of-effect Specials (excluding Røkkr area-of-effect Specials) by percentage = difference between stats × 4 (max 40%). |
Cooldown Count = 4 Boosts damage dealt by 150%. |
If foe initiates combat, grants Atk/Spd +4 during combat. |
At start of turn, inflicts Atk/Def-4 on foes within 2 spaces through their next actions. |

Res (6) | ★★★☆☆ |
◯ = Stat gains +4 with a superboon, ✕= Stat goes down by -4 with a superbane, - = No assets or flaws
See the IV Checker for All Units | Trait Fruits—How to Change IVs |
When using an Ascendant Floret, we recommend getting the next superboon if it fits the hero. If not, consider what stat your hero needs most.
As a hero obtainable only through Grand Hero Battle, Yen'fay will always have neutral IVs by default. The only way to access IVs for this unit is through using Trait Fruits.
The best IVs for Yen'fay are +Spd and -Res. Yen'fay's base Spd of 42 is very high compared to the other units in the game, and it's even a superboon.
Additionally, Yen'fay's weapon Carnage Amatsu has Spd based damage reduction, thus boosting his Spd is the optimal choice.
Yen'fay's other stats are all average. We chose Res as the preferred bane because it shouldn't affect his matchup chart too hard, especially with his built-in damage reduction.
We recommend a +Spd IV when merging Yen'fay to +10 for the same reasons mentioned above. His Spd needs to be boosted as much as possible.

Yen'fay's weapon Carnage Amatsu functions at its peak when he is alone, thus the Solo skills are the best option to boost his offensive prowess. Null Follow-Up is used in the B slot because Yen'fay already has damage reduction on his weapon.

Kestrel Stance 3 is used for Arena purposes to provide the Guard effect and prevent enemies from activating their Special skills. Null Follow-Up is used to turn combat into a Spd check, which Yen'fay excels at.

Note: Stats bonuses from skills are not taken into account.
Yen'fay is a close physical attacker (range = 1). Therefore, when not accounting for the Weapon Triangle, the amount of damage he deals will be equivalent to his Atk minus the foe's Def stat.
Yen'fay shows Python the Carnage part of his Amatsu.
Yen'fay's unique weapon Carnage Amatsu only has three effects, but two of those effects are among the most powerful effects in the game.
Carnage Amatsu gives a Spd+3 flat stat boost, allows Yen'fay to counterattack regardless of range, and grants Spd based damage reduction if Yen'fay is not adjacent to an ally.
Yen'fay is among the fastest units in the entire game; summoners should ensure he is not adjacent to allies to maximize the damage reduced during combat!
Since Yen'fay's sword Carnage Amatsu has built-in damage reduction, summoners can opt for Null Follow-Up 3 on the B slot to ensure combat is based on Spd checks, which Yen'fay excels at with his base 42 Spd.
Alternatively, summoners can double-down on the damage reduction by equipping skills such as Spurn 3 on his B slot instead.
Take note that stacking damage reduction is applied multiplicatively instead of additively. Two 40% damage reduction skills provide a total of 64% damage reduction, not 80%.
As a Grand Hero Battle unit, summoners can acquire copies of Yen'fay for free without spending orbs or relying on the gacha RNG.
This is a huge boon, especially for free to play players!
Yen'fay has the stat spread comparable to premium metagame units and scores high in Arena with his 185-186 BST (when merged).
We highly recommend you merge him up and use him in competitive game modes like Arena.
Yen'fay has very high Spd, but all his other stats are quite average compared to common metagame threats.
It will require significant investment, including merges, to get those other stats to competitive levels.
Should You Unlock Potential for this Hero? |

Yen'fay has Kestrel Stance 2 and Threat. Atk/Def 2 as options for inheritance.
However, Yen'fay is an excellent free unit who is worth merging up and using in competitive game modes like Arena.
We highly recommend you do not use Yen'fay as fodder and instead merge him up.
Yen'fay is a Hero who, for a limited time, can be obtained through completing a Grand Hero Battle for the first time. They do not appear in regular summons. After the event has ended, they can be obtained by using Heroic Grails.
