| What Kind of Character Are They? | ・Refined Carnage Amatsu has built-in Distant Counter, grants Yen'fay and nearby allies debuff neutralization and Null Follow-Up, grants Yen'fay a Dodge effect, bonus stats, bonus true damage, and applies Divine Vein Flame on nearby spaces at start of enemy phase. |
|

◯ = Stat gains +4 with a superboon, ✕= Stat goes down by -4 with a superbane, - = No assets or flaws
| See the IV Checker for All Units | Trait Fruits—How to Change IVs |
When using an Ascendant Floret, we recommend getting the next superboon if it fits the hero. If not, consider what stat your hero needs most.
As a hero obtainable only through Grand Hero Battle, Yen'fay will always have neutral IVs by default. The only way to access IVs for this unit is through using Trait Fruits.
The best IVs for Yen'fay are +Spd and -Res. Yen'fay's base Spd of 42 is very high compared to the other units in the game, and it's even a superboon.
Additionally, Yen'fay's weapon Carnage Amatsu has Spd based damage reduction, thus boosting his Spd is the optimal choice.
Yen'fay's other stats are all average. We chose Res as the preferred bane because it shouldn't affect his matchup chart too hard, especially with his built-in damage reduction.
We recommend a +Spd IV when merging Yen'fay to +10 for the same reasons mentioned above. His Spd needs to be boosted as much as possible.

This build uses refined Carnage Amatsu and premium skills to have Yen'fay function well on both phases. Due to Yen'fay's lack of a Slaying effect, Specials may be difficult to charge up. Opt for Special cooldown reduction effects if necessary.

| SP: 400 | |
| Might: 16 Range: 1 HP: 3 Grants Spd+3. Unit can counterattack regardless of foe's range. If unit's Spd > foe's Spd, reduces damage from attacks during combat and from area-of-effect Specials (excluding Røkkr area-of-effect Specials) by percentage = difference between stats × 4 (max 40%). Grants Atk/Spd/Def/Res+5 to unit and reduces damage by 20% of unit's Spd during combat (excluding area-of-effect Specials). At start of player phase or enemy phase, grants "neutralizes penalties on unit during combat" and 【Null Follow-Up】 to unit and allies within 2 spaces of unit for 1 turn. At start of enemy phase (except for in Pawns of Loki), applies 【Divine Vein (Flame)】 to unit's space and spaces within 2 spaces of unit for 1 turn. If foe initiates combat or foe's HP ≥ 75% at start of combat, grants Atk/Spd/Def/Res+5 to unit, unit deals damage = 20% of unit's Spd (excluding area-of-effect Specials), and restores 7 HP to unit when unit deals damage to foe during combat. |
|
Yen'fay's new weapon refine removes the Solo condition on the Dodge effect, grants bonus stats, true damage reduction, grants debuff neutralization and 【Null Follow-Up】 for Yen'fay and his nearby allies, and creates 【Divine Vein (Flame)】 to nearby spaces.
We recommend this refine if you are using Yen'fay on any of your teams.

Note: Stats bonuses from skills are not taken into account.
Yen'fay is a close physical attacker (range = 1). Therefore, when not accounting for the Weapon Triangle, the amount of damage he deals will be equivalent to his Atk minus the foe's Def stat.

Yen'fay shows Python the Carnage part of his Amatsu.
Yen'fay's unique weapon Carnage Amatsu only has three effects, but two of those effects are among the most powerful effects in the game.
Carnage Amatsu gives a Spd+3 flat stat boost, allows Yen'fay to counterattack regardless of range, and grants Spd based damage reduction if Yen'fay is not adjacent to an ally.
It also has built-in Distant Counter, grants Yen'fay and nearby allies debuff neutralization and 【Null Follow-Up】, grants Yen'fay a Dodge effect, bonus stats, bonus true damage, and applies 【Divine Vein (Flame)】 on nearby spaces at start of enemy phase.
Most of its effects are reliant on Yen'fay's high Spd, improving his ability to function on both phases. The 【Divine Vein (Flame)】 effect can serve as a counter to terrain-based strategies, especially Young Camilla who relies on terrain modification for her mobility.
As a Grand Hero Battle unit, summoners can acquire copies of Yen'fay for free without spending orbs or relying on the gacha RNG.
This is a huge boon, especially for free to play players!
Yen'fay has a competitive stat spread and can compete with some metagame units when given appropriate investment.
We recommend you merge him up and use him in competitive game modes like Arena if you are either F2P or playing on a minimal budget.
Yen'fay has very high Spd, but all his other stats are quite average compared to common metagame threats.
It will require significant investment, including merges, to get those other stats to competitive levels.
| Should You Unlock Potential for this Hero? |
|
|---|
We can say with confidence that you should use Unlock Potential to bring Yen'fay - Blade Legend from 4 Stars to 5 Stars. Yen'fay - Blade Legend is a very useful fast red infantry, so we recommend you Unlock Potential for Yen'fay - Blade Legend if your team lacks a strong fast red infantry.

Yen'fay has Kestrel Stance 2 and Threat. Atk/Def 2 as options for inheritance.
However, Yen'fay is an excellent free unit who is worth merging up and using in competitive game modes like Arena.
We highly recommend you do not use Yen'fay as fodder and instead merge him up.
Yen'fay is a Hero who, for a limited time, can be obtained through completing a Grand Hero Battle for the first time. They do not appear in regular summons. After the event has ended, they can be obtained by using Heroic Grails.

I think now he may be a 9.0 again. If you build him with Duelist's Blow from Attuned Ryoma, Potent Finish 4 or Laguz Loyalty, and top him off with Atk/Spd Faith, he will sustain more than enough to hit the potent finish follow ups. If you run potent finish, godlike reflexes is your best friend. If you run laguz loyalty, run gust. Both give stustainablility and don't require you to give up his core strategy of a front line unit. In fact, adding in the tempest echo pushes him to 9.5 range.
