Is There Power Creep Fire Emblem Heroes FEH

This is an article on if there is power creep in Fire Emblem Heroes (FEH). To see comparisons on BST and skills to see if there is power creep in the game, read on!

Is There Power Creep?

Yes, Most Definitely

Over the course of the game's lifespan, recent units have more inflated skills and BSTs in order to be viable in various game modes such as the Arena and Aether Raids.

Example 1: Red Armor

With the trend that has been shown, we could surmise that as time goes on, BST will get more inflated, as more and more units become premium.

Weapons and Skills Are Also Being Power Crept

Weapons

Skills have also been powercrept, as previously the most powerful skills are weapons with Distant Counter built in, such as Zelgius' Alondite and Fjorm's Leiptr.

Nowadays, weapons may have extra effects coupled with Distant Counter, such as the effects on Brave Dimitri's Moon Gradivus or Altina's Ragnell·Alondite.

Even if weapons didn't have Distant Counter built in, the amount of effects packed into a refine or otherwise has also been powercrept.

An example of this is Brave Eliwood's Ninis's Ice Lance, which states that it's effective against dragon and beast foes, while also granting Spd+3 and Atk/Spd/Def/Res+4 when in combat.

In contrast, we have Brave Hector's Maltet refine, which has several different effects on it:

  • Accelerates his Special trigger.
  • Neutralizes "effective against armor" bonus.
  • Neutralizes any penalties and a guaranteed follow-up attack if his HP is ≥ 25% and an enemy unit initiates combat.
  • Inflicts Atk/Def-6 on an enemy unit if they initiate or have HP =100% and they cannot make a follow-up attack.

Skills

Skills like Swift Sparrow 2 used to be extremely premium, though nowadays they have been powercrept with the likes of Swift Sparrow 3 and Atk/Spd Solo 4.

Summary

The game has come a long, long way, and we can imagine that in order to keep growing and growing, skills and weapons need to succumb to powercreep in order to stay relevant.

In the case of older units and their weapons, at the very least we are getting weapon refines every month to bring them up to the game's current meta, so this trend may have it's pros and cons.

That being said, the lack of premium units with premium skills shouldn't be a deterrent, and you can still play with whichever unit you like, as there are more factors to consider when building them up to score higher in the Arena or using them in Aether Raids.
