Subaki Best IVs

Recommended IVs

Stat Superboon/Superbane IV Recommendation
HP (18) HP Superbane ★★★☆☆
Atk (18) Attack Boon ★★★★★
Spd (9) No Spd IV ★★★☆☆
Def (9) No Def IV ★★★★☆
Res (5) No Res IV ★★☆☆☆

◯ = Stat gains +4 with a superboon, ✕= Stat goes down by -4 with a superbane, - = No assets or flaws

See the IV Checker for All Units Trait Fruits—How to Change IVs

When using an Ascendant Floret, we recommend getting the next superboon if it fits the hero. If not, consider what stat your hero needs most.

+Atk/-Res

The best IVs for Subaki are +Atk and -Res. This helps him increase the amount of damage he deals per attack. Additionally, it is a superboon so you should take advantage of it as much as possible. It also maximzes the damage Subaki deals with Quick Riposte 3. His Res if of less importance so it can be safely taken as a bane.

+Atk for a +10 Merge

We recommend a +Atk IV when merging Subaki to 10. This is for the same reasons as above. While Subaki can certainly be ran as a physical tank, he a +Atk IV still helps him as his main gimmick as a physical tank is hitting back hard with Quick Riposte 3. You can go for a +Def IV if you want to maximize defense, but you will be missing out on the superboon!

How to Use, Explanation

This is a simple budget build for Subaki that allows him to be a fully functional flier unit. With this kit, he can contribute a lot in both phases of the game.

How to Use, Explanation

This build uses Subaki as a flying physical tank. Just keep him away from anything resembling magic damage and he'll be fine!

Defensive Tank Subaki

HOT
Special Skill IconBonfire
Emblem Icon: -
Attuned Skill Icon: -

How to Use, Explanation

This build is to bulk up Subaki's defense and increase his damage output with his weapon. Taking Golden Naginata's +Eff refine makes up for his low attack, as it buffs him when the opponent's attack is higher. Taking Quick Riposte also ensures he can counter, as his speed is also on the low side. With Iote's Shield, he can protect himself from Archers and units with flier-effective weapons.

Subaki Best Weapon Refine

Effect of Subaki's Refined Weapon

Exclusive Weapon Effect from Refining (Special Effect Type)
SP: 400
Might: 16 Range: 1 HP: +3
Accelerates Special trigger (cooldown count-1). At start of combat, if foe's Atk ≥ unit's Atk+3, grants Atk/Spd/Def/Res+3 during combat.
At the start of combat, if unit's HP ≥ 70%, deals +7 damage.
Arena Medal:500 Divine Dew:200

We recommend the Special Effect Refine for Golden Naginata

In addition to the sped-up special trigger and the conditional attack boost, Golden Naginata provides pure damage if specially refined.

If he is at least at 70% HP or above, he deals +7 pure damage. Because it has the same trigger condition with Quick Riposte 3, it can be said that the two work well together. Try strategically positioning Subaki in danger zones where he can take lots of units out with Golden Naginata and Quick Riposte 3 in the enemy phase. To meet the HP condition for both skills, we recommend pairing him up with healers like Eremiya or refresher-asist, passive healers like Reyson and Leanne.

Subaki is a close physical attacker (range = 1). Therefore, when not accounting for the Weapon Triangle, the amount of damage he deals will be equivalent to his Atk minus the foe's Def stat.

Subaki Strengths

Very Strong Against Red Units

Subaki's Sapphire Lance+ boosts his Atk by +20% if she gets into combat with red units. This allows Subaki to deal with powerful red units with ease. This also makes Subaki a valuable unit because the red attribute class boasts the most number of units the game, and he has the tools to easily take them out.

Combined with his Def stat and Quick Riposte 3, he can be a deadly unit when up against red units in the enemy phase.

Solid Enemy Phase Capabilities with Quick Riposte

Subaki has access to Quick Riposte 3 which means as long as he is at 70% HP or above, he will score a follow-up attack when attacked in the enemy phase. As mentioned, this skill combined with his other attributes make him a decent enemy phase unit especially when against red units.

Great physical defenses

Subaki's HP, Spd and Def are at 40, 35, 35 respectively. This makes him able to soak lots of attention from physical units without going down. He can even survive shots from bow units! However, if you find yourself having trouble with bow units, you can get Iote's Shield on him. This neutralizes effective damage from bow units. It is available both for the A slot and the Sacred Seal slot. Check out builds section to know more.

Access to a special effect refine!

Subaki is extremely limited when using Sapphire Lance+. He is only a good fit against red units because of his relatively low Atk and Spd stats. If you rock Golden Naginata instead and specially refine it, he will be able to specialize as an enemy phase unit who can hit moderately well. Read more about it in the weapon refine section!

Subaki Weaknesses

Low offensive power!

Subaki has a relatively low offensive power as his Atk stat is not on par with other lance units. Also, because his Spd is unreliable, he cannot take out some red units even while using Sapphire Lance+! Make sure he gets support buffs from allies like Hone Fliers and Goad Fliers.

Very Weak Against Green Units

Sapphire Lance+ has the effects of Triangle Adept built in, which makes him extra strong against red units, but very weak against green units. He can be one-shot by most offensive green units so pay attention to his positioning in relation to them, and leave them to Subaki's allies so he can focus his firepower on other units.

Take note that this only applies when using Sapphire Lance+!, Subaki's other weapon has a different effect.

You and I have been in battle plenty of times now. Haven’t we, {Summoner}?
I’m sure you’ve seen me make little mistakes now and then. It’s only natural.
But it still bothers me, especially here where I rank among the Heroes called upon in this world.
I feel like I must be even more perfect here than back home.
And you, Great Hero! You must be under an even greater pressure to be the best...of the best!
What? You say sometimes your tactics aren’t up to snuff?
Aha! How wonderful. You and I have been hiding our little failures. Well, your secret is safe with me.
We will help each other achieve total perfection. Until then, you can count on me—absolutely!
