Highly recommended characters for early game story progression are Roku Saigou and Tsuki Iroha.

Roku is a tank-type character who can draw enemy attacks. With him as a shield, you can fight safely by attacking from a distance with long-range attackers like Tsuki.

Roku is basically a must-have. For the 2nd and 3rd slots, use ★3 characters obtained through rerolling or guest characters from the story.

Long-Range Characters are Safe Bets

Use long-range characters for to remain relatively safer in combat. These characters use ranged attacks and can fight from a distance, which helps in not getting hit by the attacks the enemy dishes out.

Always Use Break and Chain Skills

Basic Battle Flow
1
Focus on Primary Attacks during the opening.
2
Take note when an orange border around enemy's HP appears, as this indicates Break chain. This means you have an opportunity to deal more damage and use more skills.
3
Break enemy's posture with Counterattacks or Secondary Attacks.
4
Trigger Chain Skills.

It's recommended to always follow up with Chain Skills when you break an enemy's posture.

5
Fill the Tension Gauge and unleash your Ultimate.

After clearing the initial game section, you’ll be guided through the battle tutorial.

Even early on, enemy attacks hit hard, so it is highly recommended to practice dodging and countering while learning the Break → Chain Skill → Ultimate sequence.

Battle Terminology Explanation
Primary Attack
▶Does not consume stamina
Secondary Attack
▶Consumes stamina and is good for breaking enemy stance
Counterattack
▶Triggered in response to enemy attacks; greatly lowers their stance if successful
Chain Skill
▶Triggered by allies after breaking an enemy
Tension Gauge
▶Fills by using chain skills
Required to use tension cards and ultimate skills
Ultimate
▶Powerful skill that consumes tension gauge

Level Up Your Tension Cards

Equip Patimon with High Sub-Stats

TRIBE NINE

It's recommended to equip characters with appropriate Patimon to get the most out of the characters and their capabilities as certain roles.

For example, assign ones with high sub-stats like Attack+ for damage dealers or attackers, and Defense+ for tanks.

Check Your Patimon Set Bonuses

TRIBE NINE

Patimon set effects activate with 2 pieces. If you feel you're lacking firepower, try activating the Attacker set. For more durability, go for the Defender set bonus.

When in Trouble, Rely on Allies

TRIBE NINE
Using ranged characters allows for relatively safe combat

In TRIBE NINE, you control one character directly while two others act as NPCs during battle.

If a battle feels too difficult, a good strategy is to let the NPC allies go forward while you deal damage from behind using a ranged character.
