This is a guide on how to join online tournaments in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate for the Nintendo Switch. For more information on the different types of tournaments, where to find them, rulesets, and how to enter, read on!

1. Turn on Smash Ultimate
2. Choose Online
3. Next select Online Tourney
4. Select the tournament to join.

Joining an online tournament is pretty simple. After turning on Smash Ultimate go into Online, select Online Tourney, and join.

How to Check Event Rulesets

Smash Ultimate Tournament
It is possible to play with up to 64 players in a tournament, but the rules of the tournament change depending on the event. To check on ongoing tournament rulesets, go to the News section on the right of the main menu. Select the event, and the rules will be listed below.

Unofficial Online Tournaments

Where to Find

Many players participate in unofficial online tournaments with varying rulesets. These tournaments are organized through online platforms such as Twitter or smash.gg.

How to Join

Whether it's smash.gg, Twitter, or another platform, simply find the tournament you want to participate in, hit the register button, and enter in any necessary information. Be aware that tournament coditions may vary. Some unofficial tournaments will follow certain guidelines, such as requiring a LAN cable to ensure less lag or banning certain characters and stages.
