I think what they meant was the gamma opens its mouth too early. like at that range its just trying to get itself killed rather than making it look like its going to eat jill/player
you do know that when you get close to the Gamma while its mouth is wide open, it eats you and that results in an instant death????? So its not really 'for no reason at all'

the size of the Hunter Gammas don't help too. you will feel REALLY cornered in the sewers they scarier than the nemesis gawd the DETAILS OF THE MOUTH!!
Yup the 'closedness' of the sewer area makes it even scarier :< just imagine the smell of that place if ever this happens in real life
