What Kind of Character Are They? | ・Icy Ravager inflicts Atk/Def penalties on foe, grants Fomortiis bonus true damage, true damage reduction, offensive Tempo, and a Time's Pulse 4 effect. ・Leaden Regrets inflicts Atk/Def penalties on foe, grants Fomortiis 80% damage reduction on follow-up attacks, 50% damage reduction piercing, and forcefully ends turns of nearby foes after combat. |
Might: 14 Range: 1 Accelerates Special trigger (cooldown count-1). At start of turn, and at start of enemy phase (except for in Summoner Duels), if Special cooldown count is at its maximum value, grants Special cooldown count-1. If foe initiates combat or foe's HP ≥ 75% at start of combat, inflicts penalty on foe's Atk/Def = 20% of unit's Def at start of combat + 6, unit deals +X damage (X = total value of the number of foes defeated by unit's team on the current turn and the number of foes that have already performed an action, x 3, + 10; max 19; for "current turn," player phase and enemy phase are counted separately; excluding area-of-effect Specials), reduces damage from foe's attacks by X (excluding area-of-effect Specials), and neutralizes effects that inflict "Special cooldown charge -X" on unit during combat, and also, and if unit's Special cooldown count is at its maximum value after combat, grants Special cooldown count-1 to unit after combat. At strat of turn, if unit is adjacent to only beast or dragon allies or if unit is not adjacent to any ally, unit transforms (otherwise, unit reverts). If unit transforms, grants Atk+2, and unit can counterattack regardless of foe's range. |
Cooldown Count = 3 Reduces damage inflicted by attacks from foes 2 spaces away by 50%. |
If unit can transform, transformation effects gain "if unit is within 2 spaces of a beast or dragon ally, or if number of adjacent allies other than beast or dragon allies ≤ 2" as a trigger condition (in addition to existing conditions). If defending in Aether Raids, at the start of enemy turn 1, if conditions for transforming are met, unit transforms. If unit is transformed or if foe initiates combat, inflicts Atk/Def-10 on foe, reduces damage from foe's follow-up attack by 80% ("follow-up attack" normally means only the second strike; for effects that grant "unit attacks twice," it means the third and fourth strikes), and reduces the percentage of foe's non-Special "reduce damage by X%" skills by 50% during combat (excluding area-of-effect Specials). If foe initiates combat, after combat, the closest foes within 4 spaces of target who have yet to act have their actions end immediately. |
Inflicts Atk/Spd-4 on foe during combat. If foe's attack can trigger unit's Special, triggers the following effects during combat: grants Special cooldown count-1 to unit before foe's first attack; if foe's first attack triggers the "attacks twice" effect, grants Special cooldown count-1 to unit before foe's second strike as well; grants Special cooldown count-1 to unit before foe's first follow-up attack. If foe's attack triggers unit's Special and Special has the "reduces damage by X%" effect, Special triggers twice, then reduces damage by 7. Each Special trigger is calculated as a separate activation. |
If foe with Range = 2 initiates combat against an ally within 2 spaces of unit, triggers 【Savior】 on unit. If foe's Range = 2, grants Atk/Def+4 to unit and reduces damage from foe's first attack by 5 during combat ("first attack" normally means only the first strike; for effects that grant "unit attacks twice," it means the first and second strikes), and unit's next attack deals damage = 40% of foe's attack damage prior to reductions (resets at end of combat; only highest value applied; does not stack). |

Def (10) | ★★★★★ | |
Res (13) | ★★★★☆ |
◯ = Stat gains +4 with a superboon, ✕= Stat goes down by -4 with a superbane, - = No assets or flaws
See the IV Checker for All Units | Trait Fruits—How to Change IVs |
When using an Ascendant Floret, we recommend getting the next superboon if it fits the hero. If not, consider what stat your hero needs most.
The best IVs for Winter Fomortiis are +Def and -Spd. Def is a superboon and boosts Fomortiis's Def from base 49 to base 53, improving his tanking capacity. Boosting Def also improves the effect of Icy Ravager's penalties applied to his foe.
+Res is also a good bane if Winter Fomortiis is expected to face off against multiple magical foes, which is common for Far Save tanks.
Winter Fomortiis's Spd is a clear dump stat and can be safely taken as a bane.
We recommend +Def when merging Winter Fomortiis up to +10 as it improves his bulk both directly and indirectly through Icy Ravager.

Winter Fomortiis already comes with Shield Fighter, giving him the optimal kit for Far Save right out of the box. Simply equip a defensive Sacred Seal of your choice. Emblem Marth's ring isn't necessary, but equipping it protects him against brave attacks or Desperation builds by triggering Aegis again.

Winter Fomortiis is a close physical attacker (range = 1). Therefore, when not accounting for the Weapon Triangle, the amount of damage he deals will be equivalent to his Atk minus the foe's Def stat.
Winter Fomortiis is equipped with Icy Ravager, a loaded weapon with multiple offensive and defensive effects.
Below is a summary of these effects:
Condition(s) | Effect |
---|---|
Always | Accelerates Special trigger (cooldown count-1). |
Fomortiis is transformed | Grants Atk+2 and Distant Counter. |
At start of turn and at start of enemy phase Special cooldown is at its maximum value |
Grants Special cooldown count -1. |
Foe initiates combat or foe's HP ≥ 75% | Inflicts penalty on foe's Atk/Def = 6 + 20% of Fomortiis's Def at start of combat. |
Foe initiates combat or foe's HP ≥ 75% | Fomortiis deals +X damage. |
Foe initiates combat or foe's HP ≥ 75% | Reduces damage from foe's attacks by X (excluding area-of-effect Specials). |
Foe initiates combat or foe's HP ≥ 75% | Neutralizes effects that inflict "Special cooldown charge -X" on Fomortiis during combat. |
Foe initiates combat or foe's HP ≥ 75% Special cooldown count is at its maximum value after combat |
Grants Special cooldown count -1 to Fomortiis after combat |
X = 10 + 3x the total value of the number of foes defeated by Fomortiis's team on the current turn and the number of foes that have already performed an action (capped at 19).
Icy Ravager excels during enemy phase where Winter Fomortiis can trigger all of its effects and deal massive damage to his enemies while accelerating his Special to ensure it activates immediately.
Winter Fomortiis also comes with his own exclusive A skill in Leaden Regrets. This skill allows him to easily transform into his beast form by granting additional transformation conditions on top of the default conditions.
Additionally, if Winter Fomortiis is on an Aether Raids defense team, as long as he meets the transformation conditions, he immediately transforms at the start of the map.
In combat, Leaden Regrets inflicts Atk/Def-10 on Fomortiis's foe, grants Fomortiis 80% damage reduction on his foe's follow-up attacks and a 50% damage reduction piercing effect.
Finally, Leaden Regrets forcefully ends the actions of the closest foes within 4 spaces of the foe that attacked Winter Fomortiis, as long as Winter Fomortiis survives combat. This is arguably the most important part of the skill, as it ensures that Fomortiis does not get swarmed by multiple enemies.
Shield Fighter is arguably the most powerful B skill for defensive armored units like Winter Fomortiis, and was a very rare skill to acquire at the time of his release, only found on Ice Tribe Fjorm.
Winter Fomortiis comes with Shield Fighter on his base kit, removing the need for skill inheritance and making him good to go right out of the box.
Shield Fighter works together with Icy Ravager's cooldown reduction effects as well, removing the need to engage with Emblem Marth's ring to trigger Aegis over and over again. This makes Winter Fomortiis one of the best tank units in the entire game, and even allows him to pair up with a second armored unit (of a different Savior build) that equips Emblem Marth's ring and Shield Fighter themselves to create an unbreakable core.
However, Emblem Marth's ring is still his best Emblem ring to equip, as it protects him against common brave effect nukes like Ninja Lucina, or Desperation effect nukes like Brave Bernadetta. Equipping Emblem Marth's ring allows Winter Fomortiis to trigger Aegis repeatedly against these opponents.
Winter Fomortiis takes 1.5x damage from armor-effective weapons like Randgríðr, and one blow from this type of weapon will deal significant damage. Make sure you know what weapons you are up against before hopping too far into the line of battle!
Winter Fomortiis takes 1.5x damage from beast-effective weapons like Brave Eliwood's Nini's Ice Lance or Picnic Flora's Sæhrímnir, and one blow from this type of weapon will deal significant damage. Make sure you know what weapons you are up against before hopping too far into the line of battle!

Winter Fomortiis comes with Shield Fighter and A/D Briar F Save as inheritable options.
It is possible to acquire both skills with one copy of Winter Fomortiis. However, we recommend inheriting Shield Fighter no matter what, as it is one of the best defensive skills in the entire game.
