Aqua Tail Effect

Has the user swing its tail continuously for a set amount of time. If this move hits opposing Pokemon three times, this move can be used again. The second stage of the move has the user charge power, then sweep its tail to attack a wider area. If the user charges power for a set amount of time or longer before attacking, the move's area of effect is increased and it deals increased damage.

How to Use Aqua Tail

Hold Down Button

When using Aqua Tail, always hold down its button to maximize its damage and use. Releasing Aqua Tail's button will make the move enter its second stage.

Steer Movement While Aiming

While Gyarados is performing Aqua Tail, it attacks in the direction it's facing and will move slightly forward for each attack. Steer Gyarados by aiming in the desired direction.

Watch Out for Disables

Gyarados is not immune to stuns while using Aqua Tail, making the Pokemon prone to disables and allowing opponents to easily interrupt the move. Always watch out for Pokemon with disabling moves while using Aqua Tail as opponents can simply take advantage of the move's mechanic.

Alternatively, Gyarados can equip and use Full Heal to give itself some protection during Aqua Tail.

Utilize the Range

Aqua Tail's range is long enough to allow Gyarados to safely use the move. There are situations where it's better to use Aqua Tail from the backlines rather than right in the middle of a fight.

Charge Up the Second Attack

When Aqua Tail is in its second stage, using the move again has Gyarados sweep its tail in front of itself and deal damage to targets in a wide area. This attack can be charged up to deal more damage. Remember that Gyarados can still move around while charging.

Aqua Tail Patch History

1.14.1.5 Distance moved forward when swinging the tail decreased from 1m to 0.5m.
