Based on your misunderstanding, I'm guessing you're a lower-ranked/casual player who isn't carefully paying attention to level numbers in engagements. If you aren't putting huge chunks of damage into Talonflame, it's probably because he is 2+ levels higher than you (This can happen very quickly if he farms mid, grabs a kill or two in lane, and then dunks ~30 points).

As a Talonflame-only player in Master: Brave Bird + Aerial Ace is DEFINITELY the go-to if you're the carry. Check the ranks on the loading screen; If you're the highest, you're expected to wreak havoc. Putting a priority on retreating from poorly-chosen engagements doesn't really multiply your force to the fullest extent. Instead, just learn not to over-extend and not to dive into fights where you can't reasonably expect to cause you or your teammates to quickly secure at least 2 kills.

i think before the fly buff, brave bird and aerial ace is better but right now flame charge fly or fly aerial ace is prob better

fly+brave bird. Farm till fly, never die.

I dunno I just love fly because of its high damage and flame charge is to escape if I'm using x attack

But Fly is very great, it can help you escape and it is easier to control.

Brave Bird/Aerial Ace is just the best Fly just doesn't have the same damaging ability

Fly takes too long and gives enemies chance to escape. Brave bird has a long range that you can easily open with and reduce a full team to 50%. Taking aerial ace allows you to dash in and do damage however you leave yourself open to be burst or followed up on and killed. Taking flame charge allows you a damage escape to either chase that back line attacker looking to escape or escape yourself for your team to follow up. Flame charge + Brave bird is hard solo carrying with 90% win rate for me.
