Set in a Seaside Village in the Continent

The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep is debuting on Netflix on February 11, 2025, as reported by Netflix Tudum, its official news site. The upcoming film is based on a short story written by Andrzej Sapkowski, "A Little Sacrifice" from Sword of Destiny.

The spinoff movie takes place in a seaside village, where "centuries-old conflict between humans and merpeople" compelled a kingdom from the Continent to hire a Witcher. Moving away from typical monsters like Basilisk and Cockatrice, Geralt is about to battle merpeople.

Dogue Cockle is reprising his role as Geralt’s voice actor. Joey Batey and Anya Chalotra also lend their voices for Jaskier and Yennefer of Vengerberg, respectively. Meanwhile, Christina Wren from the Will Trent TV series will voice a new character named Essi Daven.

The Witcher novel author Sapkowski serves as a creative consultant, then the film’s writers are Mike Ostrowski and Rae Benjamin, the live-action series’ writers. Meanwhile, Kang Hei Chul, the storyboard artist of The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf, is the film’s director.

Takes Place During Season 1 of The Witcher’s Live-Adaptation Series

The film takes place between episodes 5 and 6 in The Witcher’s season 1. In episode 5, Bottled Appetites, Geralt and Yennefer finally meet each other at Rinde, a Redanian city, after freeing a bottled Djinn. After their reunion, Geralt was hired by a yet-unknown kingdom to solve the monster-related problem at its shores.

Given the proximity of Rinde to the shores of Redania and Temeria, it is likely that the film takes place between these nations. However, if we consider the setting from A Little Sacrifice, the specific place where the film might happen is in Bremervoord City in Temeria, under the leadership of Duke Agloval. Only time will tell if the film strictly follows the short story’s premises.
