Tactical Equipment are used to obstruct vision, debilitate enemies, cause distractions, or even improve your combat abilities to get the jump on your enemies.
Best Tactical Equipment in MW3
Some Tactical Equipment will require you to complete Armory Unlock Challenges in order to unlock them. This feature is unlocked once your account reaches Level 25.

Battle Rage | Reach Level 13 | Experimental stimulant that gives you an adrenaline rush. Health regenerates quickly, Tactical Equipment is resisted, and Tactical Sprint is constantly refreshed. |
Smoke Grenade | Reach Level 16 | Deploys a smoke screen that blocks vision and automated targeting systems. |
Scatter Mine | Reach Level 18 | Throw a field of mines across a wide area that detonate when enemies come within range. |
Decoy Grenade | Reach Level 42 | Counter-intel grenade that simulates gunfire, movement, and radar signatures to confuse the enemy. |
Flash Grenade | Complete 3 Armory Unlock Challenges | Blinds and deafens targets. |
EMD Grenade | Complete 3 Armory Unlock Challenges | Applies a tracking device to enemies hit, revealing them on your team's minimap. |
Shock Stick | Complete 3 Armory Unlock Challenges | Electrical device that sticks to surfaces. Electrocutes enemies, destroys equipment, and causes vehicles to go haywire. |
Stim | Complete 3 Armory Unlock Challenges | Military stimulant that promotes clotting to close wounds quickly and refreshes Tactical Sprint. |
Tear Gas | Complete 5 Armory Unlock Challenges | Explodes on impact with the ground, releasing a lingering cloud of tear gas that causes slowed movement, blurred vision, and coughing. |
Snapshot Grenade | Complete 5 Armory Unlock Challenges | Provide a momentary glimpse of enemies within the blast radius for your team or squad. |
Lethal Equipment are used to deal damage against enemies or even kill them. They can also be used to dislodge enemies from cover, and some can be used to protect your flank like the Proximity Mine.
Some Lethal Equipment will require you to complete Armory Unlock Challenges in order to unlock them. This feature is unlocked once your account reaches Level 25.

Throwing Knife | Reach Level 30 | Retrievable throwing knife that is lethal on impact in Core MP. |
Thermite | Reach Level 33 | Explosive incendiary device that sticks to all surfaces. |
Thermobaric Grenade | Reach Level 53 | Cookable grenade. Creates a large explosion that stuns, leaves a fiery residue, and increases the lethality of explosives for a period of time. |
Semtex | Complete 3 Armory Unlock Challenges | Timed sticky grenade. |
Drill Charge | Complete 3 Armory Unlock Challenges | Charge with a thermal lance that can burrow into surfaces before exploding. |
Breacher Drone | Complete 3 Armory Unlock Challenges | Explosive drone that explodes on proximity to an enemy or on impact. |
C4 | Complete 5 Armory Unlock Challenges | Large explosive that sticks to surfaces and can be detonated remotely when the equipment is deployed. |
Proximity Mine | Complete 5 Armory Unlock Challenges | Proximity-triggered explosive that launches in the air, and deals heavy damage to the surrounding area. |
Throwing Star | Reach Level 55 and kill 50 enemies with the Throwing Knife | A swift and deadly throwing star that inflicts a wounding effect on the target. |
Field Upgrades provide a wide selection of utility for unique advantages in the battlefield. These require to be fully charged to use. Charge is gained over time but kills charge it even faster, so try to rack up as many kills as you can for quicker charging!
Some Field Upgrades will require you to complete Armory Unlock Challenges in order to unlock them. This feature is unlocked once your account reaches Level 25.

Inflatable Decoy | Complete 5 Armory Unlock Challenges | Proximity activated decoy mine. Upon activation the reinforced fiber target is violently deployed to confuse and distract. |
Dead Silence | Complete 8 Armory Unlock Challenges | Temporarily makes your footsteps silent and applies Ghost. Gun, melee, and throwing knife kills refresh duration. |
Heartbeat Sensor | Complete 8 Armory Unlock Challenges | A limited use tablet that displays rough information about nearby enemies. |
Loadout Drop | Complete 8 Armory Unlock Challenges | Call in a team based loadout crate with limited uses. Each player can only use it once. |
Anti-Armor Rounds | Complete 5 Armory Unlock Challenges | Gives weapon ammo that applies bonus damage against armored targets; this includes vehicles, equipment, body armor, and targets behind penetrable cover. |
Suppression Mine | Complete 5 Armory Unlock Challenges | Trip mine that when triggered, emits a constant sound wave that disrupts enemy vision and slows their movement. |
Recon Drone | Complete 5 Armory Unlock Challenges | Remote-controlled drone that has manual and auto marking capabilities. |
DDOS | Complete 5 Armory Unlock Challenges | Activates a device that deactivates electronics, and disrupts enemy sensors in the immediate area for a short time. |
Tactical Camera | Complete 5 Armory Unlock Challenges | Remote-controlled camera that marks enemies. Press the Field Upgrade button to throw it, and press it again to connect to it. When left on its own the camera will monitor the area, and warn players of nearby enemies by sound. |
Munitions Box | Default | Deploy a box of ammo and equipment for you and your teammates. |
Trophy System | Complete 3 Armory Unlock Challenges | Deployable autonomous defense system that destroys up to three nearby pieces of equipment and projectiles. Some larger targets may take multiple shots. |
Med Box | Reach Level 55 | Deploy a box of medical supplies for you and your teammates to reduce healing delay. |
Smoke Airdrop | Reach Level 51 | Call in a line of drones to deploy a smoke wall at a targeted location. |
Tactical Insertion | Reach Level 45 | Marks a location as your next spawn point. Tactical Insertion doesn't have an effect in one-life modes. |
Portable Radar | Reach Level 41 | Emits a periodic radar ping to detect nearby enemies. |
A.C.S. | Reach Level 28 | The Automated Computer Spike slowly captures points and temporarily hacks nearby enemy devices. Point capturing applies in the following modes: Domination, Hardpoint, Control, Ground War. |
Deployable Cover | Reach Level 22 | Portable, rapidly-deployable ballistic cover. |
Comm Scrambler | Reach Level 6 | Disables communication with intel within its radius. Enemies will not be able to activate killstreaks. Enemy UAV and intel systems will not detect you and your teammates. Location of the scrambler is visible in the enemy minimap. |
