Marvel's Wolverine Overview
Marvel’s Wolverine is an upcoming action-adventure game developed by Insomniac Games and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. This will be the studio’s fourth video game featuring a Marvel hero after Spider-Man, Spider-Man:Miles Morales, and Spider-Man 2. Wolverine was revealed to be in production from September 2021, but has since stayed quiet with news and information until the September 2025 PlayStation State of Play event, where it received a Fall 2026 release window.
The game follows Wolverine (also known as James "Logan" Howlett), a mutant with retractable claws, enhanced senses, animalistic instincts, and a healing factor, who has also been grafted with adamantium. It centers on Logan investigating the mysteries of his past and wrestling with what he has become. The game appears to span multiple locations, including Madripoor, the Canadian wilderness, and Tokyo, among others.

The gameplay showcase for Marvel’s Wolverine suggests a combat-first experience built around Logan’s trademark claws and regenerative powers. The footage reveals that players will engage in close-quarters melee encounters, where Wolverine can dismember or pierce enemies using adamantium claws as the primary tool of offense. The intention, according to an Official PlayStation Blog post, is to be a "much darker, and more brutal" game from previous Insomniac works.
Traversal and set-piece action appear to complement the combat system. In the gameplay trailer, Wolverine is shown traversing destructible environments, leaping off collapsing structures, and moving across terrain during combat scenarios.
