How to View ATEs

This is a guide about Active Time Events in Final Fantasy IX (FFIX, FF9). This page contains information about ATEs, how to view them, and the benefits to viewing them.

How to View ATEs

There are certain story events that can be viewed by using the ATEs. ATEs are options the player can use to see events happening elsewhere in the game.

ATEs can also only be viewed whenever the ACTIVE TIME EVENT text appears on the bottom left of the screen. Press the button in the table below that corresponds to your current system:

What are ATEs?

ATEs, or Active Time Events, allow you to view certain story events happening to some of your party members or other characters crucial in the game while they are not with you.

Why View ATEs?

Various Reasons

Viewing ATEs can provide clues on your next destination. ATEs can also give you some items or even alter some events in the game. Viewing 79 ATEs will net you the Movie Watcher trophy/achievement in the PS4/XB1 versions of the game.
