I'm looking for a new game to play and just came across final fantasy 7. I watched the trailers and all but I've been hearing negative things about the game. Should I still play this?

well, most final fantasy games are turn-based. your feelings are valid. if you feel like you like that system better, then sure. they're just trying new things here i guess for FF7 remake.
i still like the old turn-based but not complaining. it's cool.

not forcing anyone yet starting a thread clearly meant to argue about which character is static or dynamic. Yea sure bud.
"you" need to think about..in your opinion. i can't help it. i'm a gamer and a designer at the same time. like i'm a movie goer and movie analyst at the same time. I watch the movie, my mind automatically admires how the camera works, the production design, how the writer invests in character development. just my own world. don't need to be bitter. not forcing anyone to like how i analyze things.
And to anyone that says but game dev can this can that. Then sorry to pop your bubble bud but you're on the wrong board. This is a board for ff7 remake players not ff7 devs or game devs.
many will probably tell you to play the original. you'd want to take their advice to heart. they truly care what you'd think about the game after playing this remake. they know the original story's way better. but still, it's your choice.
I like Cid he's honest, he has a filthy mouth for good reason. and he's kind simple as that.

We're consumers not designers. The only thing we need to think about is the result. Do I like the character or not hence the statement "who tf cares"
Fan service huh? doing something bizzare as that just to please the audience. i like the characters but please please they shouldn't do that for money's sake.
game character design plays a vital role in game development. characters you love so much in any game, movie, etc., writers question.. should the players hate this character? how do i design this character to achieve that goal? do i want them to be loved by players/movie watchers? then maybe kill the character, because i know they love them. How do I do that? Choosing between dynamic and static is extremely important in character designing.

I just played the demo.. looks promising. but I'm afraid I'll be disappointed with the story because other people say it's not how it used to be.
