It also seems that they're trying to make a chapter based linear story telling. One of the joys of ff7 is the freedom of the world map. The possibilities from places you can explore. The joy of the unknown. Hell, you wouldnt even be able to get yuffie if you dont explore.
To enjoy the game, you really need to know what happened in the original. The complaint here is mostly for the new players that wont be able to enjoy it if they didnt play the original. Another problem are the future entries. It might be exciting to have an unknown future for ff7 but it is also terrifying since there is the chance that they can ruin a good story. Otherwise, everything else is great!
It is similar to how marvel operates. It is a new chapter, a reboot with alot of fanservice to the old game. The Whispers are a big hint to it and how they operate. They a a nice meta reference. I do now why they did it, but doesn't mean I would like to have it more true to the original. Still a really good game. It just is another Phase of the FF7-Vers.
Ehhhhh gotta disagree with people. This is by no means a remake as much as it is a retelling, and the people they’re retelling the story to are people who have played the original. The game is enjoyable if you accept that this is really just a “what if we have Nomura the plot of FF7 and let him run wild” but it’s not even a remotely similar game especially since you can’t even make it out of Midgard - ie filler that never happened
Already played it.. and for me i can say this is in my top 3 best ff series!
Try the demo first, then think about it after.. I'm sure you will buy it. XD
I will be really shocked if its called remastered version. Its a remake because it doesnt have the exact game with just a better graphics, its really a whole new game..

Cid didn't change and I'm not sure on what notion you guys got that idea. He just wants to go to space but is not willing to sacrifice his assistant's life for it? What changes are you guys talking about?

I'd say go for it. Buy it. We loved the first one because it's our own thing. This FF might turn out to be your own thing, so no harm done.
Don't twist your panties. For all we know this FF is in a separate dimension or something
Well, if we're talking graphics, it's more than worth it. Story--meh. I don't know. I'm still giving it a chance to prove itself though.
You gotta start with 10 alright. That creepy laughter will always stay with me whatever Final Fantasy I play. You know what I mean.
I just hope they'll improve the story somehow. The original had that charisma of the story that captivated audiences
Slightly different version, yes. I'd like to think we had the better story. But they'll have stunning graphics. Win-win.
Music is key to everything. I mean, take for example past games. They don't have flashy graphics, but it was music that it used to draw people to them

Music is the key to emotion and atmosphere. It's what creates nostalgia and it's what makes art memorable. That's why! ;)
well, yeah. but most protagonists are dynamic (games, movies etc) then they're surrounded by static side characters. And then, there are the villains who either... (1) static villain rotten to the core from the very start until the end (2) dynamic villain goes from a good guy before then turns evil for some reason or vice versa... That's how most stories work.
Nostalgia is the reason why it gave you chills. I'm so happy that this generation will also have FFVII in their childhood.
ohh right! HA HA HA plain static character, from day 1 he shows his true color.
Played this in big screen with surround sound system. Its fantastic and gave me chills! 10 out of 10!

i have to disagree. I think he's static. cloud seems faking it, that proud and arrogant attitude is more like a cover.. he's hiding his true self i guess. I think most FF main characters are designed this way. *Main characters hiding their true selves dilemma*
Now, that we're talking.. Is Cloud static or dynamic? Always been wondering about that. So, he's a chill emo dude ---> proud and arrogant asf but he did change, slowly but surely.. he starts to show his caring side.. so he's a dynamic character? Hmm...
nah not a fan of classic drama. static is the way to go. got attitude at first? gotta have the same characteristics/behaviors in the end.
