it makes me HAVE to do that to delete a character, which is weird, can anyone explain? also, everyone's saying you can't do it, when you clearly can. when I follow all these steps, instead of giving me the option to delete a character off the island, it makes me move them to a different island, on a different switch. this is really annoying, because I don't have another switch, and I just wanna delete the character

Update for those who deleted the user first. Just make a new user and open game. Itll say theres a resident not linked to anyone and ask if u wanna play as them, say ok, then follow the steps outlined in article. Voila!
I have one switch lite but 2 ac games. One is from the online store and the other is a game card. If I make another account on my switch can I make a different island using that one game and if not can I have them move from my current island without deleting my island?

I have a question. I already deleted someone's account off my switch hooing it would remove their house off my ac island. It didn't. Is there still a way for me to remove their houses? Also they never had a Nintendo account linked or anything
Wait ok you can make a new account and as long as the old one you removed wasn’t linked to an account you can start playing as them again and then remove them.

i erased my secondary villager but i didn't realize that she has my robot hero and some diy. is it possible to have the items back
I’m playing with two of my roommates and our third is thinking of joining, but our island is full of villagers. Do we need an available space? Or can we choose a villager to kick out when they join?
I don't think so either, but I was hoping lol. That really sucks. I should've never even started as player two on my brother's island. Thanks :)

I don't think so. My understanding of the system is its device-locked. I don't know why they do this though
Is it possible for the second player on the island to move to a new island? Like if player two got another Switch and game, could they transfer all their stuff to a new island without starting from scratch?
i share a switch with my brother, i accidentally logged into his account and started playing ac from there i didn’t realize it was on his acct and thought everything was glitching since it took me to the beginning of the game, anyways if i want to delete him off my island will it end up deleting my player and my island?
