Learn how to get to Kitakami and how to access the Teal Mask DLC content as part of the first wave of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet (SV)'s The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC.

The first expansion for the DLC, The Teal Mask has released as of September 13, 2023. As part of The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero, The Teal Mask offers a new adventure where you'll be joining an outdoors study program in the Land of Kitakami held jointly between their academy and another school.
To avoid problems when purchasing the DLC, make sure to select the correct item from the shop. If you already own a copy of either Pokemon Scarlet or Violet, make sure to purchase the DLC only, which is $34.99. Buying the base game and DLC bundle may result in having an extra copy of the game on your account, which could further complicate things on your end.
The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC: Release Date and Everything We Know
With the DLC purchased, be sure to update your game, you can do this by hovering over the game on the Switch Home Screen, pressing + to go into options, then selecting Software Update. The Teal Mask content is part of Version 2.0.1 so be sure to update to that or higher!
Updates and Patch Notes
When booting the game on Version 2.0.1 or higher, you'll receive a call from Jacq, asking you to come to the Academy's Entrance Hall. When you get there, you'll find Ms. Briar, a blonde lady in a purple jacket and scarlet pants. Speak to her and proceed with her conversation to learn about your trip to Kitakami! Jacq will get your Pokedex updated to include Teal Mask Pokemon as well!
Speak with Ms. Briar again after receiving the Pokedex update from Jacq to set out for Kitakami! It'll be a short plane ride away! Once you'll arrive, your journey in Kitakami is set to begin! Enjoy!
