By aligning a Pokemon's original Type with its Tera Type and using a move of that same Type, you can deal maximum damage. Therefore, if you are unsure of what Tera Type to go with, that is a great starting point for using Hydreigon and Dragapult in story playthroughs or Tera Raids.
You can obtain Dragon Tera Type Hydreigon and Ghost Tera Type Dragapult by catching wild Deino or Dreepy with those Tera Types, but they can also appear fully-evolved in these Tera Raids with those Tera Types and better IVs compared to those caught in wild encounters.
EVs, IVs, and Natures Explained

Hydreigon and Dragapult appear with various Tera Types during this event, so bring a Pokemon which can deal super effective damage to the Tera Type you're up against.
Hydreigon has high Special Attack, and can use Nasty Plot to further bolster its damage. Using Pokemon with high Special Defense which can handle its powerful attacks are a necessity.

Dragapult can inflict burn with Will-O-Wisp, which makes physical attackers less effective against it.
It is recommended to use special attackers to not be burdened by the Attack stat reduction from being burned.
Additionally, if you plan on taking the role of support in these raids, setting up Misty Terrain can help your allies even if they are using physical attackers, as the terrain prevents Pokemon from being affected by status conditions, rendering Dragapult's Will-O-Wisp useless!
Pokemon | Moveset / Strengths |
---|---|
Miraidon |
・ Electro Drift ・ Metal Sound ・ Dragon Pulse ・ Power Gem ・High Special Attack stat to complement high damage movepool. ・Can use Dragon-type moves against Dragapult if it has Dragon Tera Type. ・Metal Sound can be used to lower Dragapult's Special Defense. ▶︎ Best Miraidon Build for Tera Raids |
Dachsbun |
・ Misty Terrain ・ Charm ・ Helping Hand ・ Play Rough ・High Defense stat. ・Use Misty Terrain to protect against Will-O-Wisp. ・Use Helping Hand to buff the attack power of allies. ▶︎ Best Dachsbun Build for Tera Raids |

Chi-Yu |
・ Dark Pulse ・ Nasty Plot ・ Taunt ・ Flamethrower ・Unaffected by Will-O-Wisp. ・Boost damage with Nasty Plot. ・Use Taunt to prevent Dragapult from using Dragon Dance or Will-O-Wisp. ▶︎ Best Chi-Yu Build for Tera Raids |

Event Tera Raid Crystal Map icons are much shinier than regular Dens.
Event Tera Raid Crystal Map icons are sparkling and look much different to regular Tera Raid Crystal icons. If you cannot see any sparkling Raid Crystals in the overworld, try opening the Map app to look for the sparkling icons.
Event Tera Raid Crystals also give off a special sparkling aura which makes them stand out compared to regular Tera Raid Crystals. Try searching for them in the overworld by heading towards the beams of light.
Only 10 Event Tera Raid Crystals can spawn per in-game day. If you have already cleared all 10 for the day, you can still challenge them by going online and joining another person's Event Tera Raid.

Cursed Body Has a 30% chance to disable the opponent's move that damages the user. |
Tera Raids that are 3 Stars plus sometimes feature Pokemon with their Hidden Ability, so this is a rare opportunity to catch Dragapult with its Hidden Ability, Cursed Body. Hydreigon does not have a Hidden Ability and will always have Levitate.
Hydreigon and Dragapult can both be shiny, however it is only regular odds, which are quite low. If you would like to get yourself a shiny Hydreigon and Dragapult it is better to instead hunt their basic forms, Deino and Dreepy, by eating sandwiches with Sparkling Power and finding areas where only those Pokemon appear to Shiny Hunt them.
