Some shiny Pokemon forms are not yet available in the wild and in raids, and only obtainable through breeding in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet (SV). Read on for a list of breed-only shiny Pokemon and how to get them!

The three starter Pokemon are given to you at the start of the game, and they are shiny locked. To obtain the shiny forms of these Pokemon, you need to breed for them.

The non-Paldean Regional variants that are currently obtainable in-game are obtained from trades, and are shiny locked as well. To obtain their shiny forms, you need to breed the regional variant holding an Everstone to get a shiny regional variant.

All Paldean Form Pokemon:New Regional Forms
The 7-Star Raid Greninja, Cinderace, and Charizard can only be caught once per save, and are all shiny locked. The only way to get these starters as Shiny Pokemon is through breeding.

The above method gives you the base chance of obtaining a shiny egg, which is 1/4096. To further increase your chances of getting a shiny starter, breed it with a traded foreign Ditto. This method is called the Masuda Method, and it increases your shiny odds to 1/683.
You can further increase your shiny chance if you have the Shiny Charm, which is given as a reward for completing the Pokedex.

Gimmighoul and Gholdengo currently cannot breed with other Pokemon or Ditto, and as of writing, there is no legal way of obtaining a shiny Gimmighoul or Gholdengo aside from trading. Their shiny forms were released temporarily during the Shiny Gimmighoul Raid Event.

Legendary Pokemon are currently Shiny locked, and cannot breed with other Pokemon. As of writing, there is no legal way of obtaining shiny Koraidon/Miraidon or Treasures of Ruin. Their shiny forms could be released as part of a future update, either through Raids or as DLC content.
