Jacq is one of the Paldea residents you meet in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet (SV). Read on to learn more about the meaning behind his name, the character's background, and his role in your journey to Paldea.

Jacq is your Biology and Homeroom Teacher in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Jacq is the one who gives you your Pokedex at the beginning of the game and charges you with the task of completing it.
At certain completion points, Jacq will give you rewards. If you completely fill the Pokedex with data for all 400 Pokemon, you will unlock the Shiny Charm which helps make shiny hunting easier!

Jacq's team coverage is spread out in both rematches which means his team doesn't have a particular weakness. Pokemon that can deal strong neutral damage such as Garchomp's Dragon-type STAB are great for his fight since it also has coverage moves to deal with Jacq's Poison and Ground-type Pokemon.
Farigiraf's Armor Tail Ability gives it immunity to priority moves, so avoid using these moves when fighting it so you don't waste a turn.

As a Special Coach, Jacq adds Victreebel and Galarian Slowbro to his team to round of his coverage and team resistances. His strongest Pokemon is still Farigiraf which he terastallizes into a pure Psychic-type.

You can unlock Jacq as a special coach by trading with 3 Special Coaches. Once the conditions are met, you can then invite him to the League Club.
Jacq, our homeroom teacher, specializes in Pokemon Biology. He will likely assist us in the same way Bill did in Pokemon Red/Blue and Yellow, Lanette in Ruby/Sapphire and Emerald, or Bebe in Diamond/Pearl and Platinum.
He will be taking on this role, and not the role of Professor despite the plant-related name, because those roles are filled by Professors Sada and Turo.
Jacq's name could be derived from 'Zinnia Elegans Jacq.', the scientific name of the common Zinnia plant. His name in other translations are also consistent with being variations of Zinnia.
Jacq is Florian and Juliana's homeroom teacher who is also very knowledgeable in Pokemon biology. He is the developer of the Pokedex App for the Rotom Phone.
He can be a bit of an airhead, as he sometimes loses himself in his research.
