Aguav Berry Competitive Analysis

Aguav Berry Battle Effect

When held by a Pokemon, Aguav Berry restores the user's HP equal to 1/3 of its max health after dropping below 25% of its HP.

Note that facing a Pokemon with Unnerve and As One will prevent it from consuming Berries.

Aguav Berry vs Sitrus Berry

Unlike the Aguav Berry, the Sitrus Berry's effect triggers at 50% HP. And while the heal is slightly weaker (25% of its maximum HP), the Sitrus Berry is a safer choice because the risk of falling below 25% is more significat compared to 50%.

Tanky Pokemon

Due to Aguav Berry activating at 25% remaining HP, tanky Pokemon are considered the best users for it. Some example would include Ferrothorn, Toxapex, and Amoongus.

However, the Aguav Berry is most often used as a secondary choice because of competitive battling's item restriction.
