How to Use, Explanation

This is a skillset that lets Boey function as both a healer and attacker. With the sacred seal Breath of Life, all adjacent allies will recover 10 HP when Boey initiates combat. With Gronnowl+, Boey’s stats will increase when initiating combat, and then heal them afterwards, making this a powerful build. If necessary, he can also use Ardent Sacrifice to restore some extra HP to his allies.

We Recommend the Special Effect Upgrade!

Boey is best made use of by giving him the special effect upgrade. Giving his exclusive skill Inscribed Tome the special effect upgrade will allow him to counterattack foes who use a sword, axe, lance, or beast damage, effectively letting him counterattack any unit other than manaketes. Having Close Counter built into this weapon gives Boey a much bigger advantage than not being able to fight back close ranged units. Be sure to watch out for dragons though, as he will be unable to counterattack them.

Boey is a ranged magical attacker (range = 2). Therefore, when not accounting for the Weapon Triangle, the amount of damage he deals will be equivalent to his Atk minus the foe's Res stat. Additionally, he has skills that allow him to recover HP and deal more damage with adjacent allies.

Inscribed Tome provides color advantage against colorless opponents

Boey's Inscribed Tome grants him color advantage against colorless opponents similar to Raventomes like Gronnraven+. Together with his refine, he makes for the perfect counter to Fallen Edelgard!

Gains extra power through Gronnowl+

5 Star Boey has two weapon skills to choose from. His other weapon skill, Gronnowl+, gives him more power as the number of adjacent allies increases. With 3 adjacent allies he gets +6 to all stats.

Good at enduring physical attacks for a mage

Boey has relatively good defense for a mage, which means that it is possible to use him as a physical wall if needed. In particular he is very powerful against bow units due to his ability to tank the attack and then counter it. Additionally, his default special skill, Ignis, draws extra power from his Def stat.

Boey's Weaknesses

Weak to other mages!

Despite being a mage himself, Boey's low Spd and Res stats mean that he is at a severe disadvantage to other mages. Positioning allies nearby and gaining buffs through Gronnowl+ may just save your skin, but in general you should avoid attacking powerful mages with this unit.
