Get 20 Points in the Beat Rifts, Get Agent Smith Free! Event

The Beat Rifts, Get Agent Smith Free! Event advertises that players can unlock Agent Smith early by progressing Rifts and defeating Rift Bosses, each of which nets 1 point.

However, it is currently not yet possible to unlock Agent Smith as there are not yet enough available Rift Bosses to gain the 20 points needed to unlock him.

Defeat 20 Rift Bosses

A Rift Boss is found at the end of a Rift, which requires multiple matches to complete. Right now, it takes about 1 hour to complete a single Rift, assuming that you've only followed a single route throughout your progress and completed the minimun winning conditions per match.

Each Rift has one Boss for each difficulty setting; the current Rifts each have 4 difficulty settings (with the hardest difficulty, Looney, locked until July 10), meaning 4 Rift Bosses total will be available for each.

To unlock Agent Smith, it seems that players will need 20 points, implying that players must complete 20 Rifts and defeat the boss at the end of each This is currently impossible to achieve, given that only 2 Rifts with 3 difficulty settings each are now available in the game, providing a maximum of 6 Rift Bosses.

Wait for All 5 Rifts to Be Released

Players will need to wait for 3 additional Rifts to become available in the game. The first 2 available Rifts each have 4 of the possible 5 difficulty options available, for a total of 4 Rift Bosses per Rift; if the next 3 Rifts also follow this pattern, then it will be necessary for all 5 Rifts to be released for 20 points to be achieved and Agent Smith to become unlockable.

As the Beat Rifts, Get Agent Smith Free! Event allows for a maximum of 30 points, we're expecting that more Rifts in addition to the 5 currently shown will be added.

Unlock Via the Event Menu

The Beat Rifts, Get Agent Smith Free! event shows a reward of a Variant labeled Agent Smith at 20 points. We assume that this Variant unlocks the Agent Smith Character, as it wouldn't make sense for the Agent Smith character to have a separate Variant also called Agent Smith.

If this is not the case and the Variant at 20 points does not unlock Agent Smith, players might need to receive all 30 points and fully complete the event to unlock Agent Smith, though this seems unlikely as the reward for 30 points is a separate unique Variant for Agent Smith, implying that players should already have the character unlocked by that point.

When Will Agent Smith Be Available?

Possibly July 10, 2 Weeks Before July 23

The current end date for the Battle Pass implies that Season 1 will end on July 23, and we can assume that Season 2 will begin at the same time.

The Beat Rifts, Get Agent Smith Free! Event lasts until July 30, and advertises that players can get Agent Smith 2 weeks early. We can assume from this that Agent Smith will be added at the start of Season 2, and that this Event will allow players to get Agent Smith at most 2 weeks before that date.

This lines up with the unlocking of Looney difficulty for all Rifts on July 10. It seems likely that all 5 Rifts will be made available before July 10, and the Looney difficulty will unlock for all of them on that date, making it possible for players to unlock Agent Smith on July 10 – if they can clear Looney for 5 Rifts in one day, that is!
