Sculk Sensors can be found naturally generating in Deep Dark Biomes and Ancient Cities. They are often found in clusters near other Sculk Blocks and Sculk Shriekers.
Sculk Sensors are one of the sculk blocks that could generate when a mob dies within the detection range of a Sculk Catalyst. The mob must die on top of a sculk block for this to work and this will only occassionally spawn a Sculk Sensor.
Only mobs that give the player XP will generate Sculk. You may need to kill a few mobs before successfully generating a Sculk Sensor.
The Sculk Sensor detects sounds generated by players, mobs, and blocks nearby. It can detect sounds within an 8-block spherical radius centered around the Sculk Sensor. The image above shows the detection range of a Sculk Sensor in red and blue stained glass.
The distance of the sound of from the Sculk Sensor changes the signal strength it emits. The further away the sound is, the less signal strength is emitted. Sounds that are farther away also have a slight delay before they reach the Sculk Sensor.
By reading the redstone signal of a Sculk Sensor with a Comparator, you can also distinguish between different types of sounds as they emit different signal strengths.
