Clodsire ImageClodsire

Cyclizar ImageCyclizar
Pokemon Normal Type Icon Pokemon Dragon Type Icon (Lv. 24)

Since Iono's Pokemon are mostly Electric types, Floragato with its Grass Typing (resists Electric) is the best starter Pokemon for this battle. Clodsire is also an excellent choice thanks to its Ground typing giving it an immunity to Electric moves, while also being the only Type that is able to hit Electric Types for weakness. It is worth noting however that Wattrel's part flying Type gives it an edge over both Clodsire and Floragato thanks to its Ground immunity and Type advantage over Floragato.

Clodsire ImageClodsire
Pokemon Poison Type Icon Pokemon Ground Type Icon (Lv. 28)
Cyclizar ImageCyclizar

As Crocalor has a neutral matchup for the most part in this battle, it should do fine on its own against most of Iono's team if it is levelled up enough. Watch out for Bellibolt though, as it can hit both Crocalor and Clodsire for super effective damage with its Water Gun attack. Utilizing Cyclizar for that matchup is best, as it resists both of Bellibolt's moves.

Clodsire ImageClodsire

Cyclizar ImageCyclizar

Quaxwell should just sit this one out. It is hit for super effective damage by all of Iono's Pokemon and can only hit back for neutral at best. Use Clodsire for the Luxio matchup and Cyclizar to deal with the rest of the team.

How to Beat Iono

First You Must Pass the Find Mister Walksabout Challenge

Mister Walksabout Electric Gym Challenge Pokmeon Scarlet and Violet
Before you have the chance to face Iono, you must first pass the Find Mister Walksabout Test. In this test, you need to locate Director Clavell, aka Mister Walksabout, via camera footage. Once you successfully clear the test, you may challenge Iono.

Use Cyclizar Against Iono's Ace, Mismagius

Cyclizar Pokemon Scarlet and Violet
Iono's ace Pokemon Mismagius also Terastallizes into an Electric Type. Thanks to its Ability Levitate it is completely immune to Ground Type attacks and as an Electric Type, is left with no weaknesses! Cyclizar comes in handy for this match up, as its Part Dragon Typing gives it a resistance to Mismagius' Electric Type Charge Beam attack, while its part Normal Typing makes it immune to Mismagius' Ghost Type Hex attack! It can also completely disrupt Iono's strategy of confusing and then attacking, with its Taunt move, preventing Mismagius from using Confuse Ray.

Level Up to Lv. 26

Since many of Iono's Pokemon are difficult, or in Mismagius' case, impossible to hit for weakness, make sure your Pokemon are a high enough level to deal decent neutral damage.

Terastallize at the Start of Battle

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet SV - Alternate Fuecoco Form
Players can Terastallize their Pokemon at the very start of Gym Battes. We recommend you take advantage of Ground Tera Types, as it gives you immunity to Iono's Teams Electric attacks and is the Electric type's only weakness.

Tips and Strategy to Beat Iono's Rematch Team

Opponent Kilowattrel
There is a very high chance that Iono's first Pokemon, Kilowattrel will use the move Tailwind, an attack which doubles the speed of Iono's team for 4 turns. This will result in Iono's team outspeeding most Pokemon, so instead of trying to outspeed Iono's team, use the first turn of the match to use a move like Amnesia and boost your Special Defense.

Iono Character Background

A Popular Streaming Idol

Pokemon SV - Iono as a Gym Leader
Iono, the Supercharged Streamer, is a popular influencer in the Paldea region. She has her own special streams known as the Iono Zone in which she is known to interact with her viewers with various activities.

Name Translation: Iono

Iono's name could stem from the word ion, which are molecules that carry either positive or negative charges, which is in itself a connection to her role as Paldea's Electric-type Gym Leader.

This is also further reinforced by the Magnemite-like hair clips on her head which bear similar designs to molecules.

It also seems to be a play on the phrase I don't know, given to the nature of her wanting her viewers to guess her partner Pokemon.
