The best IVs for Kagetsu are +Spd and -Res. Spd is a superboon and boosts Kagetsu's base 47 Spd up to base 51, tying the highest Spd in the game (as of the time of his release) and allowing him to keep up with the fastest metagame units.

Kagetsu's Res is below average at base 25 and no amount of investment will impact any of his matchups against magic foes. It is a safe bane to take.

+Spd for a +10 merge

How to Use, Explanation

This build uses Arcane Devourer and Time's Pulse 4 to reliably charge up Vital Astra after every combat. The rest of the skills are aimed at having Kagetsu function as a traditional Godsword unit with high Spd and multiple damage reduction effects.

Kagetsu is a close physical attacker (range = 1). Therefore, when not accounting for the Weapon Triangle, the amount of damage he deals will be equivalent to his Atk minus the foe's Def stat.

Kagetsu Strengths

Reversal Blade+ reverses foe's visible stat bonuses

Kagetsu's inheritable Reversal Blade+ grants him Atk/Spd/Def/Res+4 during combat and inflicts an Atk/Spd/Def/Res penalty onto his foe equal to twice their visible stat bonuses.

The penalty effect applies enough stat penalties to overturn their bonuses, and is stronger as more visible bonuses are applied to his foe's stats.

While not overwhelmingly good, this weapon does enough to perform in battle.

Kagetsu suffers from not having any unique skills to call his own, making him unable to stand out amongst other units.

Sword Infantry units are quite abundant in the game, and lacking an exclusive weapon makes Kagetsu replaceable by better units.
