If you spam dodge and hit them enough, you'll win. It'll take long, and no room for error, but still you'll win.
some bosses can kill you in two hits in harder difficulties, so you need oil cause every little bit counts
The Witcher 3 combat. Just dodge. Just spam dodge and hit things. You can get pretty far with just that. Dodge and hit. and counter sometimes.
tru dat, went through my first playthrough only upgrading my weapon, and only using my oil for maybe two boss fights early on... death march every quest can kill me if im not careful
On easier modes maybe, but harder modes need you to use all your skills. Oils are essential in Death March.
if you're good enough at dodging and blocking, all you need is your sword to be honest. maybe the quen for tougher bosses but that's it
what I usually do is use Aard for humanoids and level up my regen so that I knock them down often enough that I only fight them a few at a time
