Should You Pull for Gil’uial?

Consider Saving Your Diamonds

gil

Gil'uial serves a niche role and is especially strong against witches that like to use powerful buffs and spells, as this is what her kit is designed to counter. She's good at countering those kinds of witches, but she's pretty mediocre when it comes to to the general majority of battles.

Because of this, you might find better value in witches that can do well in a variety of different situations, like Merlyn, Nina, Primavera, and Soltina, and not just in a few specific matchups.

She Works Well Even at One Merge

Gil'uial is one of those witches who can do what she does well even at just base SR rarity. Her main job is to silence her enemies while dispelling their buffs. Gil does not need to be awakened for her to be able to provide this for her team. Naturally, she'll become much better after multiple merges and after getting her unique weapon, becoming a more effective debuffer while being tankier with her multi-barrier, as well as dealing better damage as well. Despite that, having her at base SR is enough.

Pull If You Need A Niche Debuffer

Gil'uial's niche lies in her ability to remove debuffs from the opponent's DPS carries. Powerful buffs like Merlyn's targeted skills, Dian's evasion buff, and even Amleth's invincibility can be taken away by Gil'uial. She's also quite strong against witches that like to cast spells thanks to her ability to Silence enemies, preventing them from doing what they want to do.

Witches that like to crit like Florence also struggle against Gil'uial, as she has the ability to resist crits at a high level. This passive resistance to crits is Gil's only form of defense, and she's not too tough against other forms of damage.

If you want a witch that will thrive in situations like these, go get Gil'uial.

Pull If You Like Her story

gil

Gil'uial is a character who grew up in a village full of witches. Because of her background, she dreamed of putting up a country for just witches. After returning from a long exploration, she found that her village has died off. She focused on her dream, until she found that the Duke has already been able to do it. Happy to see her dream unfold, she now resides in the Duke's estate.

When Not To Pull For Gil’uial

Not Good Outside Her Niche

Gil'uial does not provide much value when battling outside of her comfort zone. She'll deal strong damage with her Moonlight skill, but that has a 5-turn cooldown. You'll be lucky if she's still alive after 5 turns as she's squishy against witches that do not rely on crits. If she has no buffs to dispel from her enemies, she'll only really be able to provide value by Silencing foes. While that's pretty useful, other witches can do that more effectively, while also having other more impactful abilities.

Outclassed By Others

If you already have some good debuffers on your team, which is the case for a lot of people as there are lots of non-limited SR characters that can fill this role well, you might not need to pull for Gil at all. If you need a Silence and a multi-barrier, Soltina can provide that, even without having to get her to 221+. Alternatively, you could use Primavera to inflict Fainted and completely immobilize them. If you need to remove a strong debuff, there are lots of options for that, like Nina, who could even steal the buff for herself. There is nothing unique to Gil'uial's kit, and you can find others who can do one of the things that Gil is known for at the same level, or even better.
