Black Waltz 1 and Sealion Boss Battle Guide

Details

Black Waltz 1
A duo boss fight. Sealion also has a core that turns from blue to yellow to red. Blue is the weakest while red is the strongest.

Moveset

Black Waltz uses blizzard and Fire against Zidane. Sealion's moves, however, vary depending on the color of its core which will be listed below:

  • Blue - Uses Wing, which is as strong as a physical attack. Sealion also uses Blizzard.
  • Yellow - Sealion starts to use Blizzara, a stronger version of Blizzard. Sealion retains his previous moves from when its core is colored blue.
  • Red - Sealion starts to use Tsunami, which is a strong water based attack that hits all units on the field. Sealion is immune to water damage so this does not affect him.

Strategy

FF9 Sealion
Hitting Sealion will cause Black Waltz to use Blizzard on Sealion, which heals it. Steal all items from Black Walts then defeat him to reduce the number of enemies.

After Blackwaltz has been felled, start stealing items from Sealion. Do not damage Sealion yet, so that Sealion will only use weak moves, which will allow you to steal more comfortably.

Use Potions to keep your HP up as always. Their damage range is around 40 when Sealion's core is blue, more than enough healing for a potion.
