There's wii fit game for that.
It's a remake. There are several new things but the core storyline and the main mechanics that distinguished the original stays the same. The materia's are still there, the summons, the characters, the story, their weapons and other stuff. But this is just speculation since we only have the part 1 and we all just witnessed the demo.

yo i remember watching the making of advent children and they were highlighting how animating every strand of tifa's hair was a big deal back then. that was 15 years ago. animation has advanced so much.
