Character Upgrade Guide: What Upgrades to Prioritize

Resources you'll need to strengthen your characters are limited in ALICE Fiction, so you'll need to learn how to prioritize which aspects of a character you will upgrade. Here you'll learn what you should upgrade with your characters first, and what each upgrade element means.

Expansion and Raising Grade

Raising your Folklore's Grade in ALICE Fiction unlocks a Folklore's skills, so you will want to prioritize this first. You can Grade Up your character by using Expansion Items and Credits through the Character Menu.

To level up your Folklore, you'll need Experience Points. These are gained by two ways: Either you use Battle Records, or send your Folklore out to complete Quests.

Battle Records are great for leveling up a new character quickly, but are limited in number. This makes them bad at leveling up multiple Folklore at a time.

Sending out your Folklore to clear Quests on the other hand increases the levels of up to 5 Folklore. If you need to increase the level of multiple Folklore at a time, we recommend you to use Energy to complete Quests.

If you clear a Quest with a 3-star rating, you can simply Skip it. You can also increase your Player Rank this way, which also increases to what level your Folklore will rise to as well.

How to Skip Quests

Leveling Up Skills

When you have the Credits to spare, use them to upgrade your Folklore's skill. Ideally, your Folklore's Skills should be on the same level as the Folklore itself.

The higher the level of a Skill is, the stronger its effect is.

Folklore Ascension

Ascension, or the process of upgrading your Folklore's rarity, makes their stats stronger. But the process of accumulating Animas may be too time-consuming to Ascend characters quickly.

This is why we recommend you to only Ascend your Characters when you can afford to. There's no rush to Ascend your Folklore as long as they are properly graded and leveled up.

Ways to Level Up
Using Battle Records	Acquired through Quests, the Shop, or the Exchange.
Clearing Quests	Gives less EXP than Battle Records, but only consumes Energy.

You can see your Character's Level in the Character Menu, as well as the Party Menu that pops up before you start a Quest.

Take note that your Folklore's level will be limited by your own Player Rank, so make sure to clear Quests and complete Missions often so the power of your Folklore won't be held back.

Raising Grade with Expansion Items

The process of raising your Folklore's Grade not only unlocks a Folklore's Skills, but also increases their stats. This makes Expansion a great way to strengthen your Folklore without having to spend Energy or Battle Records on leveling them up.

Keeping your Skills leveled up properly is important in ALICE Fiction, as the effect of those skills will depend on both your Folklore's level and the Skill Level. Credits can be acquired easily by clearing Quests or even buying them from the Shop with Free Quartz.

Increasing Rarity with Animas

Each Folklore has corresponding Animas that you'll have to collect to raise their rarity. To get Animas though, you'll either need to get Medals to spend at the Exchange, or get duplicates of Folklore you already have from ALICE Fiction's Gacha Banners.
